I have two HTPC's that are no longer in use and I would like to get the other traded in for audio gear (I prefer gear so I can tell wife I didn't buy anything, if I get money and then buy something it's a different thing... :))

AMD Sempron 2800+
1GB of RAM, Kingston DDR 400
250GB SATA hard drive
ATI 9800Pro video card + ATI DVI to component adapter if needed
Chaintech AV710 7.1 surround sound card with toslink
802.11g wireless PCI adapter
500W power supply

Optional:
DVD+-RW writer, Toshiba SD-R5372

Quiet machine in black HTPC case, pictures attached. LEGAL version of WinXP installed.

I think a fair price would be around $400-450 (if not, you're welcome to tell me what you think is) but I will consider trading from something more expensive as well and paying the difference, up to maybe $1000. 2ch or multichannel amps, preamps etc.

HT, Home Theatre. PC, personal computer.

It has not been optimized for HTPC use but has the hardware to be one (that's what I was using it for). Especially when it comes in full-width, rack mountable case that looks good with the rest of the HT gear.

For use other than gaming and hard image processing it's all you need. It's still a decent gaming machine but you will have to scale down the details if you wish to play the latest games. I think with BF2 it got around 20fps with 1600x1050 resolution but with something more modest like 1024x768 it should be fairly smooth.

For DVD playback it's more than you'll need, and would make a decent second gaming rig for the big screen.

a pc of this processor caliber will not be able to playback h.624 files even at 720p. my athlon xp 2600+ struggles to play it although cyberlink is working on getting its **** together for their new powerdvd to help with the reading of those files and the new hd-dvd and blue-ray formats. i would definitely say this is only acceptable for dvd playback.

HD on HTPC is still far away, that's why I consider HTPC to be only for DVD's anyway.

$350 shipped CONUS anyone? Considering trades for lower priced items plus cash, or cash + computer for higher priced items.
