Speaker Level vs. PreAmp Out

Hi,
I've currently got my NAD T761 receiver hooked up via pre-outs to the left and right inputs of the PSW300 subwoofer. I've also got the sub setup for auto-on. When I turn on the receiver, it seems that immediately, a signal is sent to the sub (bass only), and then the satellites come on. Will this damage the sub? Would it be better to hook things up using speaker level inputs?
