Onkyo tx-SR703 opinions vs...

just picked up the onkyo tx-sr703 display model at fry's for $195... cheapest model I could find with up-to-date surround processing and pre-outs. planning on picking up a used adcom 2535 to drive the front soundstage, and drive the surrounds in a 5.1 setup straight from the AVR. my other option at the same price point would be the HK340 with no external amp. I picked up the onkyo because they just dropped the price today, and I didn;t think it would last long (still have a few of the HK340s). did I make the right choice (onkyo + amp), or should I run back, return the onkyo and go with the HK (would be a while before I could get an amp for the HK, so assume no amp).
Thanks,
-Doug

I think you're headed in the right direction. The Onkyo should make an OK pre/pro.

I second that.. There is no sense in getting the H/K if your are planning to use external amplification.. If you were just planning to jsut use the AVR as the only power source I would tell you to RUN back and get the H/K.. H/K (IMHO) is a much better AVR and has a warmer sound, but if you are using the Oink just as a pre, it probably has "basically" the same exact thing as the H/K.
