Cost of IP-adressable speakers

Dear polkaudio team,

I was pretty shocked, when I saw the price of the IP-addressable speakers. Why is the price so extraordinary? Will the price decrease as the technology gets more common? Are there cheaper versions of those speakers?

    If you took the time to read what is included with those speakers, I think you'll find the answer to your questions.

    polk's take on IP addressable speakers hides a lot of goodies.
    The speaker contains a built in digital amp, an analog to Digital convector and DSP processing. you can stream digital data directly to the speaker.
    in addition the traditional speaker components are high end (LSI drivers).

    we are talking way more then adding an Ethernet connector to the speaker.
