Ok guys heres my dilema I dont know which way to go

these are my 2 proposed home theater set ups

rti10 front
csi5 center
fxi5 rears
rti6 6th channel
psw505

or
lsi9 fronts
lsic center
lsifx rears
lsi7 6th channel
psw505

this is what I want to know
I listen like 90% tv,gaming and movies
10% music

is the rti system going to be better for me using them mostly for home theater?
cause with the electronics I'm looking at 2 totally different bills.
thanks

My vote would be the RTi setup because of HT over music / also Towers over Bookshelf's. Now if you added Lsi15 over the Lsi9's for front then it's 50 /50 if you could swing that coinage.

RTi better for home theatre IMO. Save some money that can be put towards a sub as well.

based on your choices as given I would lean to the RTi, should you be able substitue the LSI15 for the RTi10 I would go with the LSi, its simply a better overall set of speakers that will last you a lifetime, remember tastes can change over time. The RTi line is getting/has gotten an overhaul, so your speakers although new to you will be an "old" series from nearly the get go.

Either way you will have a very nice Home Theater set of speakers.

    Enjoy.

    BEFORE:
    RTi100
    Rti38
    CSi5

    NOW:
    LSi9
    LSiFX
    LSiC

I will take the LSi series any day even though they are more $. The detail is the difference.

thanks all!!! Jan I was hoping I'd get an opinion from someone who owned both types of systems so I'll def be going with the LSI I was just second thinking myself. I was going to get the lsi9's but everyone keeps telling my to go with the 15's. But I figured if I go lsi9 with a good sub the lsi15's weren't needed

The reason I went with the 9's is I will be adding towers for a 2-CH rig. Due to space constraints I am forced to use one room and did not want 4 towers in the same room. The 9's for me was the best selection and they sound awesome. I also own a SVS PB12-PLUS and that puts the whole HT package neatly together. Just make sure you get some decent power for those LSi speakers.

I am not sure about the 15's, but if it is HT you are after then a sub is a definite. There is no way any speaker is going to give you the depth for HT. And if you have not heard a SVS sub - check it out Sir.

Now get me a good deal on a big screen. HA HA.

I use 4 LSi15s, an LSiC, and the PSW1000 sub for HT, and I love it. With the right movie it is magic.

Sounds like a great system. Based on the fact that you chose the LSi's over the RTi's, I assume you do not really like to settle for something if you don't have to. I would really rethink your sub choice before laying out the money. I know you are getting it on accomodation and will save money by purchasing it, but Polk is just not the ideal sub company when it comes to home theater (imo).

Why spend money on something now that you know you are going to want to replace with your next upgrade?

    Michael

Edit - I would also try to run 7 channels if you are going above 5. Your rear channels (LSi7's) should be placed about 2' or so apart from each other from what I understand. Then again, what do I know - I am still running 5.1. :)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

CHANGE THE SUB OUT!!! Check SVS and HSU.. You will be much happier in the long run.. Polk subs just arent up to par with these (2) particualr brands..

I have a STF-2 from HSU (~350 shipped) and it rocks the house....for music it is fantastic as well....imo...there is no better sub for the money. If you are seriously considering Polk for a sub then you owe it to yourself to at least check out HSu before buying...you will be pleased and so will your wallet!

Definitely change the sub to SVS or HSU. It's understandable that you probably want to stay with a Polk sub because you get a discount, but if you are almost exclusively HT, you will be disapointed with the Polk.

The Emotiva looks totally cool, but I don't know much about it. Does anyone else have it?
