I am building a house and trying to find a viable alternative for my back speakers. I think I have decided to go with either 4 of the RC60i's or the RC80i's. For my fronts I have 2 Monitor 60's and a CS1 center. Below is a picture of my living room with a mock seating arrangment. My question is, where in the celing should I mount the 4 speakers???

Thanks,
Don

    Welcome to CP!

Sides should go to the side of your couch, and the rears should go directly behind the couch seating area for decent 7.1 placement. 14 foot height and in-ceiling placement makes this possible without too many visual issues.

After taking your advice and looking at a 7.1 diagram for celing speakers at Crutchfield, I think I have it now. My only problem was thinking that my rear 4 speakers were so far away from my fronts and center ch. with the way you mentioned. I kept wanting to space them out evenly in pairs over the length of the room. But now I think it makes sense and I now understand the theory behind 7.1 and the speaker placement.

So, my only delimma now is do I go with the RC60i's or the RC80i's? I plan on using the system for about 70% HT and about 30% music.

    Thanks,

    Don
