Which is best instalation method for db690?

Sorry that I had to post this a second time but, I meant this to be a question and do not know how to edit the title line.
I have decided to put a pair of 6x9's in my truck and would like to know which would be the better way to install them. They will not fit in the stock location no matter what I do or modify. So, I will have to either put them in speaker boxes or build something to hold them. I mainly need to know whether I will get better sound quality if they are mounted enclosed or open air. I can build something for which ever way is best. Thank you very much for your help in this matter.
