Rti8's price drop?
I paid 640 bucks including tax for a pair of rti8's. Now I understand new Rti speakers are coming out... Does anyone have an estimate on the price of the rti8's once you cannot really get them anymore once the new series comes out...
I saw someone selling a pair of rti10's for about 550 bucks less than 1 year old...!!!
I do not want to lose money so should I sell or keep these?

I've got Rti8's and love them. Unfortunately, at your price they will never sell. Definitely not here. You may be able to get $450 on the bay but that's pushing it. I've seen 'em go for as little as $250 here. When you buy at near retail it's hard to recoup.I say keep them and enjoy. Maybe someday move them to use as rears. Sorry for the bad news.

thats crazy...the monitor 50's they sell around here go for like 350...!!!

When you buy new speakers at retail price, you can't expect to ever sell them for near that price again. Many speakers retain a pretty consistent used price through the years, even if new versions replace them.
If you don't want to lose money, don't sell them. If you bought them in hopes you could make a return on them, you're probably in the wrong hobby.
What really should determine whether or not you keep your RTi8s is whether or not you like them. I say, if you enjoy them, there's no reason to consider selling them. If you want something different, sell them for a pinch under the market rate to get them moved before the new RTi line comes out. -

$640 for new RTi8's is a pretty good price. I paid $700 + tax for mine. I've heard that they will be cleared out from stores in April, but that's all rumors. I don't have any concrete information -
I paid $450 for 6 month old speakers, trust me,I shopped them for awhile. Getting $640 for them is impropable. Put them on ebay and put a reserve.
I wish you luck. -
I paid 750$ CAD for mine. A year ago.

The new line coming out is what is slaying the resale....it happens all the time with gear.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I managed to find a heck of a deal on mine because a shop was closing I only paid 525 for mine less than a year ago. Good luck trying to get what you need out of them.Sig to be updated after dealing with the insurance company:(:(:(

Yeah, but will the RTiA be any improvement over the older RTi series?

I was actually thinking of the 8's or the 12's (depending on WAF) before I learned that the LSi is the ultimate....

Paid CA$799.99 (equivalent to US$670) for a pair of Rti8s here in Toronto a month ago. It's always a bit more pricy than in the states. But, it came with the basic sub PSW10, which could be ebayed later on. So, not a bad deal.Rti8

Thats the key for me. I was pretty excited when I heard about and saw the new line, but lost some of that enthusiasm after being told by someone at Polk that the changes are mainly cosmetic, and the sound should be pretty much the same as the current series.
So enjoy the RTi8's you purchased. They are still a fine product.Main theater: Paradigm Studio 100's v4 L/R, CC690 Center, ADP 590 x4 Surrounds. Dual Outlaw LFM-EX-1's, Yamaha Aventage RX-A1010 as Processor, Anthem PVA-7 Amp

I have heard that the new design of the cabinets may greatly enhance the sound quality. I actually think the current rti series looks better then the new ones...

I hope that is the case. I'm holding off on any purchases until I get a chance to hear them.Main theater: Paradigm Studio 100's v4 L/R, CC690 Center, ADP 590 x4 Surrounds. Dual Outlaw LFM-EX-1's, Yamaha Aventage RX-A1010 as Processor, Anthem PVA-7 Amp
