    I will get back with you when I have owned all of them

    and heard all of them in the same room with the same setup.

    Read the 2nd paragraph of polksda's reply below. He nailed it.

    2B over SRS? No way. The 2B is a nice little speaker, but in no way above the SRS, in my opinion. It's interesting that you put the 1st and 3rd generation SRS on the list, but not the 2nd, the SRS 1.2 (non-TL).

    Methinks that's there's no way to make a definitive list as (1) very few folks have heard several sets of SDAs, let alone the majority of models, (2) it's subjective anyway, and (3) it depends what criteria you're measuring.

    I currently own 1C, 2A, 2B, and SRS 1.2. I'd put the 1.C at the top for musicality, but the SRS 1.2 at the top for raw "OOMPH!"

    From what I've heard in my livingroom I'd have to say:

    SDA-SRS (w/ rep tweets)
    SDA-SRS 1.2 (w/ rep tweets)
    SDA-SRS
    SDA-SRS 1.2
    SDA 1C (w/ rep tweets)
    SDA-SRS 2.3
    SDA-CRS+

    The replacement tweets cause any of the SDA series to move up a few notches over an orig tweeter model.

    Exactly :) and changing the caps out take them to another level - I am told.

    I have not changed any of my caps but I've heard ones which have been changed. Another level for sure. Every bit as much change as the tweeter change itself.

    I've heard most of them in my travels and the SDA SRS 2 and SDA 1C set the bar for the group. You'll get everything you need SDA wise from those models.

    The SDA SRS 2.3TL does everything the SDA SRS 1.2TL does and the SDA CRS is just plain fun.

    If I had to choose....

    SDA SRS 2.3TL
    SDA SRS 2
    SDA 1C
    SDA CRS or SDA CRS+

    Obviously that excludes models but the rest don't really hold a lasting impression for me. These were the models that really made me think and have fun.

    SRS 2
    SRS 2.3TL
    CRS+
    2B

    I've heard them all, short of early versions that used a dimensional tweeter(s) also, and the 3.1TL. The 1.2TL's never did for me what the SRS 2 and 2.3TL did. The only non-reference series model I like is the 2B, and half of that is just the simplicity of it, perfect size, good bass weight, and great imaging. Plus, they are the speakers that I popped my SDA cherry with.

    Cheers,

    SDA SRS 2.3TL
    SDA SRS 2

    The SRS 2 is as good as it gets, the 2.3TL just adds more of it.

    Other than cosmetics, is there much sound difference between the SDA 1b's and SDA 1c's??

    I have a set of 1b's that I need to have new cabinets made for. For the cost of having the cabinets remade, I could probably get a set of 1c's if there is a sound improvement to go along with the cosmetic change.

    Well, I guess I broke my cherry on owning a pair of SDA-1C's so I can't throw an "educated opinion" into this topic other than I love my 1C's. One day I will own other pairs I'm sure but for now, these fit into my 2-channel listening room well. They aren't too big or too small.

    I do remember when the original SDA SRS's came out and hearing them for the first time back in 1985 or so. I was hooked and here I am.

    The best ones are the ones you are lucky enough to own or have a chance to buy. I have a pair of SDA SRS and a pair of 2.3tls. They both sound great and work together very well in a 5.1 music system. There is always something better out there or a way to improve what you have - but what you do have may not be so bad either.

    You will be pleasantly surprised. Since the 1.2's are more efficient they will do more than the 1C's with the same power. It will sound like you have a bigger amp.

    1 watt = 91db
    2=94
    4=97
    8=100
    16=103
    32=106
    64=109
    128=112
    256=115
    512=118
    Any questions?:p
    They are very efficient with HIGH CURRENT amps:)
    The key is high current. Without that the watts don't mean much.
    Also the 1.2's are "compatible with 8ohm amps", and are more like 4ohms. They actually have less resistance than the SDA-SRS's that are rated at 4ohms. But they do work with 8ohm amps because they are so efficient. BTW most "4ohm compatable receivers" are just limiting their current.
    Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

    The 1.2TL, 2.3TL and 3.1TL are 6 ohm nominal.

    How can you spell current correctly once and then spell it twice as currant in the same post? Got jelly on the brain?
