Those of you who know me, have heard about my passion for certain vintage gear. I was told to call a friend of a friend by a guy who knew I enjoyed reel to reel tapes. I sent the gentlemen an email, to which he responsded that he had a few tapes, but was wondering if I was looking for a reel to reel player. I picked up a very nice Pioneer RT-707 several weeks ago (from George Daniel, and was not very excited but I inquired him as to the make and condition of his machine.

He responded by saying that he has a Teac X-2000R (black) in excellent condition with the original owner's manual, box, microphones, cables, Teac metal reels. interconnects, 2 sets of the 10" adapter hubs (RB-612) and some boxes of unopened tape. He said he wanted $100 for the lot.

So here's the pic of my new Teac X-2000R whic looks and runs perfectly!!!

Thanks Dave! I would appreciate any R2Rs I can lay my hands on. Jazz and country are fine. Drop me a pm if she give you the okay. Take a ride over to Western PA to hear the R2R on the big SDA's. I always welcome Polkie visits! Thanks!

    Hey Ed!

I was thinking of you when I found this unit as you and I have talked a lot about various R2R's. This one just feel out of the sky. I'd rather be lucky than good. Some things just happen that way. How's the SRT setup coming along?

I did change my Depends when he told me the model and the price. The 909 is an awesome machine, as is your GX-747 and GX-77. I kind of like the black.

Have you seen the 707 in black? Supposedly (as folklore has it) the black 707's were only sold to the Govt (DOD, CIA, FBI, etc) Nixon my have used on in his Oval office:eek: If you can find one, they go for baseball player money.

Will do! A lot of the time I stay in Fishkill, NY. I suspect this is a little further away from you, but I'd still be up for a visit. Maybe we can get Ed (Esavinon) out of the ambulance and have a good visit and listening session :D

Beautiful Carl. I would have no use for such a vintage piece personally, but I could stare at it for hours :p .

Thanks again for the kind remarks guys! The thing records and plays back great. I have a little "bleed through" on pre-recorded tapes. I'm going to have the heads aligned at a local shop. I'll get the belt replaced, cleaned, lubed, etc. while it's there. I'm glad there is a local guy that owns a brick and mortar audio/video store that has technicians on site. I've bought gear from this guy for more than 25 years.

Carl, you have my address and account number. Send it to me and I would be happy to perform the maintenance required at no charge, and test it out for a few months to make sure all is well.:D
