Bluetooth Headset?

I am looking for options for a wireless headset to use with a PS3, and hope some of you can offer some advice. I thought it would be nice for my son and his cousin to be able to talk to each other while they play online, heck, my 60 year old father even enjoys playing all of us online as well!:D

I like the built in Bluetooth that the PS3 has, and use both a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with it when I use it for the internet.

My question is, what is available in a reasonably priced Bluetooth headset? This does not need to be 'Hi Fi' quality, and the lack of a cord would be a real plus. Both my PS3 and my father's are a good bit away from the seating areas of both of our HT rooms.

Another question, I know that you can get a Bluetooth adapter for the USB on computer that is not Bluetooth enabled, but can you get one for say, a set of wired headphones so they can be used wireless with the PS3?

Last but not least, will the on the ear headsets designed to be used with phones work for what I have in mind?

Thanks for the input,
Jerry

Bluetooth is bluetooth. Any bluetooth headset should be able to link with your PS3. I have one, but have not tried it out yet. I'll let you know how well it works sometime later today, as I plan on giving it a whirl.

They also make bluetooth headphones. They can actually be had for pretty cheap. There's a pair here for sale for one day only for $35.95.

    Dane,

Thanks for the response, I kind of thought that it would all work if linked up, but was not sure. I was thinking of getting the headphone type with built in microphone (my first choice), but had not been able to find much of a selection for those around here yet. I had seen a lot of the cellular/cordless phone type.

I look forward to hearing how yours works,
    Jerry

I found www.mobilebee.com to have great prices. They are based out of NYC. I bought a Moto V3i from them with a Tmobile contract and it went much smoother then buying a phone from verizon (which I cancelled and returned). I know you aren't buying a phone, but they sell all sorts of bluetooth products as well and from what I've seen at some pretty nice prices.

Not quite. I don't know what all the PS3 supports but, many devices leave out the AD2P protocol which is stereo audio and is what is used by Logitech iPod headphones and any BT headphones that are of a "higher" SQ.

Finally got around to using my Bluetooth headset on Tiger Woods 07 today. Worked pretty well, but it sounds like PS3-specific headsets are a bit more reliable and consistent. My headset was breaking up on occasion.

Here's a good site with info on how to connect your headset, as well as which units have been proven to work:
