I just bought a Marantz MM-9000 and it's in the mail now but I also saw a Rotel RB 985 MKII for sale locally for 400. I was wondering if the Marantz will be a better setup or should I get the Rotel and sell the other when it arrives? Any thoughts? I'm at a disadvantage because I don't have any friends locally into this hobby so I haven't been able to hear much equipment for myself. I do have some buddy's that have been watching me build this and are now starting to collect thier Polk speakers and are getting hooked too! It doesn't take much to fish them in!:D
Harmon Kardon AVR 245 set 5.1
Polk CSi5- center
Polk RTi6- fronts
SVS PCi 22-31- sub
Polk FXi3- surrounds
Mitsubishi 65" DLP 1080i
Denon 1930Ci DVD
Playstation 3

Get them both. See which one you like and sell the other. Just because one person likes brand a doesn't mean you won't think brand b sounds better, it's all subjective. I used to hate denon, and guess what I took a stab in the dark and bought one, and I love it much much better than what I had.

$400's a decent price for that amp. Swipe it up and give it a try. Should be able to make back your investment on Audiogon or here if it's not what you wanted.
