Ran across this today. Thought it was interesting...

Seems like an interesting evolution in the whole online social experience. Wonder what you can really do in your private pad with people you meet and bring back...home...?

That looks pretty interesting. I'd screw around on there for a while if I got bored of my huge 2-game PS3 collection. I wonder when it's supposed to come out...

Possibly this spring. It's hard to find information on it. And it's supposed to be free.

Must say, I can see myself getting lost on there for months. Whenever I plug in the Sims for a change of pace, hours go by in the blink of an eye.

It's kinda like a WoW for more sane people!

holy crap, talk about having powerful. This is the future of gaming in many aspects, I can see this growing huge. Allot of power tools included as well, music sharing, etc. I would definitely get into it. Should be fun.........xbox360 needs this also.

I was just watching that earlier today. It is a fantastic idea which will bring the PS3s online capabilities up to speed with the well established Xbox Live service. The visuals are also nice and clean considering it is most likely an early build of the final product.

Here's a 20 min in engine demo. While heavy on the marketing and product placement, it looks like a cool virtual world. Definitely polished for something that won't be out until Fall.

took forever for them to get the thing working, ps3 glitch I suppose. If the bugs are worked out I'm buying into it. Seems like fun

    Well,

Who knows what the final implementation will look like. But I guess it all comes down to if you like sites like myspace or not. 'Cept with games and stuff...

Well, remember the types of conversations had on consoles during gameplay. They tend to be young, male, and very immature, as well as homophobic and racist. Why in hell would I want to go into an online world and chat with these people? I'd rather play actual games.

    Just my opinion.

I think that's the point, kinda pull the demographic towards myspace and see if it gains any traction. Otherwise, an xbox live clone would have been the way to go.

That's a good point. In theory it's a great place to interact with people from all over the world. But in reality, you'd probably just become and angrier person from dealing with so many dipshits.

You mean besides sony doing their intros at E3 with it? Looks like they're still very commited to getting the thing out and making it a centerpiece of their playstation network. The graphics and functionality looked very similar to the trailer with customizability of your character and where you "live". It may have video connectivity with games like singstar and if they include the ability to upload videos to it and use the ps camera, it could be a cross between myspace and youtube. We'll have to see how people actually use this thing. I'm wondering how they'll keep the place from getting too adult. It seems like a pretty wide open format where you can share almost anything multimedia wise.

I guess I was just wondering if there was a planned release date or at least beta release. I haven't really been following it....
