Denon DVD557 Deal

I believe I scored a good deal on this last night. Went to CC for a couple of DVD's and an MP3 player for my daughter and saw this open box. Regular price of $159, open box for $139, I walked out with it for $109. Guess I need to spring for an HDMI cable to get the best picture, but I was happy with teh one DVD I watched last night.

    Not to burst you buble, but mine came @ $69+tax, also from CC. PQ is awesome with HDMI. I had it connected both ways to different inputs on TV and the difference is more than noticable. Just make sure you don't spend more than $20-30 on the HDMI cable.

    How very insensitive of me! Seeing how they almost never discounted beyond $15-20, any deal below that is great, in my opinion. It seems pricing an open box at BB or CC is solely a manager’s discretion. I saw very different prices on the same thing at different times, and some awesome deals can be had that way. I still don’t understand how they can do it.

    $69:eek: You lucky dog...that's a steal. I still feel good about the price I gave, so no bursting of my bubble. I did order a 10' HDMI from overstock.com for $25. Hopefully it will be sufficient. I'll keep it hooked up to component for an A/B test to see what type of improvement I get.

    I work for CC. The managers can adjust the price according to the condition of the product (condition 1, 2, or 3.), we can drop it below condition 3 manually.. so some will go much lower than others. It really does depend on the manager. Sometimes we are stacked with open box items and just want to get them out of the store.

    Anyway, that's a great deal! Hope you're happy with it. :)

    It would be interesting to know what you see with the component vs. HDMI A/B test. The quality of the component cables will probably make a difference, too.

    I had other good experiences buying open box, and so far this Denon worked great.
