I just picked up a Marantz MM-9000 to step up my HK 235 for HT. Is this amp going to make a noticable improvement on my system? I'm not too up on HK's low watt/hi current set ups? Even at 50w it's pretty stout. I just want to make sure I will be OK w/the speaks I'm powering. It's kinda late to ask since it's on the way. I think I need a pat on the head "or kick in the ***" Thanks!
Harmon Kardon AVR 245 set 5.1
Polk CSi5- center
Polk RTi6- fronts
SVS PCi 22-31- sub
Polk FXi3- surrounds
Mitsubishi 65" DLP 1080i
Denon 1930Ci DVD
Playstation 3

Wattage doesn't mean much to quality. Give it a try. If it doesn't blow your skirt up, you can sell it. :)

I think you will be fine. There nice amps and its 150 wpc not 50 wpc on this amp. If you dont like it let me know if you want to resell it send me a pm. REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Buying used amps is always a good idea.

Getting a great deal on a used amp makes is almost a fool-proof buy. You can always resell for same or more if you buy at less than market.

Ok Thanks, I meant my HK reciever puts out 50 but it is high current? so its actually higher. I just hope the Amp improves the quality of my setup not just make it louder. My HK sounds real nice and I was just worrying about whether or not the Marantz will improve on this. :)

You should be just fine. Used is a great way to play around with gear.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Ditto on Doro's sentiment

Hard to lose too much money on used amps if you resell them, even over time. I have had used amps for years and would resell them for little dough less than I paid.

I havent bought a new amp in quite some time, my 2 channel and theater all roll with used amps.

COOL! I guess I'm not out much if I don't like it. Any feed back on the quality of the Marantz mm-9000?

I have a friend that uses it for his 5 surround channels with an adcom GFA-555 for his mains and loves it. Here is a link to some consumer reviews also. REGARDS SNOW
