RC80i Install
Hello. I just purchased 6 RC80i inceiling speakers for my Home Theater. I would like to know if these speakers need some kind of insulation behind them. I am installing them myself in my familyroom located downstairs. Any info will be greatly appreciated....Thanxs !

I don't think they "require" any insulation behind them. When I installed my TC60is I just let whatever insulation was there lay on top of them. So far they sound fine. You can always give Polk customer service a call if unsure.
I think Polk designed them to be completely open on the back. I have thought about building an enclosure for them but my attic access is too tight for me to try it out.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

I bought a roll of the pink from Home Depot to fill in behind my inwalls and I definitely like the sound better with insulation backing rather than without. The insulation is cheap, so install two speakers and do A/B testing to see which you prefer.

I would use insulation over the speakers but not the blown in stuff. If you got the blown in stuff in the attic use the batt style insulation in this area instead. I don't think the blown in stuff getting into speaker would improve the sound any.

I would suggest some type of baffle behind those speakers, if installed into an empty wall/ceiling cavity.
www.sonance.com rings a bell.....CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
