After... 3 years of service. I am waving goodbye to my good ol SVS.

Great subwoofer, but unfortunately with my current system growth it has become slightly outclassed.

Lets not discount how good this subwoofer was for 600 bones, without a doubt it was a beast.

Regardless -

Bring on the stereo VMPS, CROWN Xti, Paradigm trio for bass slammation.

Ah... 2-3 months without a subwoofer. I may go into withdrawl. I doubt I can last that long. I will definitely bite the bullet.

Im in a way glad it worked out this way. This way I can see the Taylos bass performance. They are solid down to like 38hz. But i will definitely miss having a sub.

You know what? Now that I think of it, if I had the funds 2-3 weeks ago, I would've bought your sub. I really like the 25-31 series - nice, small, and good performance.

Who knows maybe soon I'll get dual 25-31 PC Plus subs direct from SVS!

Haha, well I talked to Brian today at VMPS

There is pretty no cost difference in an assembled Original sub and a Larger Sub w/ Megawoofers kit - so what the hell. Lets put two absolute MONSTERS in this room.

    That will be FUN.

These subs are MONSTROUS. My Original Larger subwoofers foot print is huge!
It is only 3" shorter than my 3.1's and almost twice as wide! This is a vertical presentation of the woofers. The Larger is a horizontal presentation....It would be truly awesome, two crown amp and two VMPS Larger...Every Richter Scale with in 150 miles would be going nuts!

    Have Fun!

    Thats what Im hoping for.

It only cost like 120 more for the kit, and the assembly of the kit would take maybe 30-40 minutes. Cant complain about that. Not to mention you get that 15" active driver, 140 pound cabinet - hahaha, and 300 watts more of handling.

But yeah, I measured my room out to make sure I would have enough room for the beast - and there is like 1" of clearance on each side between the wall and my TV stand. To funny.

Will be beastly. Will take 4 months - but will be worth it. A subwoofer every 2 months. w00t w00t

    That's great.

Please give me first right of refusal if you ever decide to sell one of them. I've been wanting this sub for about 2 years. Someday I'll get one (only have room for one of them).

    You got it Brad...

Im pretty stoked about this! hehe

Granted, I will most likely keep these things upwards of 20 years I imagine.

I mean what else can you buy for 700 bones that can do... 115db at 20hz and still be musical??? lol

Dude, I just cant fathom how large this subwoofer is...

23" tall, 32" wide, 19" deep - thats just not natural...

Look at this thing in comparison to some speakers... lol

The size is very exciting if you like that kida' thing. I am a sucker for it. That said, The sound is so clear and fast. If the volume dial is out of control...... look out! It will shake your jewel sack so much you won't ever need a girlfriend or have kids! :)....

Isn't that what you said about the SVS, and then the DefTech BP10B's?

Eh - you gotta realize to beat these units Id be spending upwards of 2-5 grand each.

That to me is rediculous. And not to mention not in a budget range Id be in for a long long time.

All the units Im gathering I consider to be excellent components, ones that mate well together and should last me many years.

Not to say that the SVS and BP10Bs were not, but I outgrew them as I upgraded more.

So do these subs provide a better cost/performance ratio than similar stuff from SVS?

Because right now I am interested in either the 25-31PC Plus or the new Ultras.

Two larger subs, an amp, crossover

    Retail, new was...

    719 x2 + 499.99 + 299.99 (All new) = 2300, which is essentially two Ultras, capable of 118db at 20hz.

    Pretty good ratio there, IMO.

Is that a better cost/performance ratio than dual Ultras, or is it about the same?

In my new HT room, which is 24X25X8 feet, I might just need dual Ultras!

By design, they should be better than Ultras. Specifically for music.

Push Pull, with a sloat loaded PR.

The suspended spider design. Should just be insanely accurate and loud.

The Ultras from SVS are amazing too. No discounting that.

I just wanted to try something a little different and I like the versatility of having the passive thing.
