Quick question for you guys. Every now and then I get to looking online at things and for some reason thoughts come into my mind that maybe I could benefit from the new item purchased.

Last night I started looking at the Sony KDS-R60XBR2 screen, would it be worth the upgrade over my current Panasonic PT-60DL54 or would I be wasting money on a small upgrade. I do have hi-def content that I could run into the set just wondering if I should stay put with what I have or is this screen significantly better? Someone advise please.

max on the panny is 1080i. I was wondering if the difference is that significant. That XBR2 looks insane, nice PQ. But if the upgrade is only a subtle difference then I wont even bother. Right now Im using HD DVD and a Sony BDP-S1 BR player and I cant complain but again if the difference is that much better, I'll jump on it.

Well, have you ever noticed a difference in progressive scan vs. interlaced? I know I haven't. I really don't think it would be worth your money right now, just wait awhile until prices come down or something new comes along.

you havent noticed the difference between interlaced and progressive because all the interlaced material that you watch is deinterlaced. if you watch some older movies from like the early nineties you can see some pretty bad interlaced movies. its pretty noticeable even after the deinterlacing in some cases.

go there and download the dolby digital trailer in egypt to see an example of interlacing. watch the columns and you will see a good amount of stagger due to the interlacing.

Doing a quick search, I believe he has:

Panasonic 60 inch DLP with a native resolution of 720P

    He is contemplating upgrading to:

Sony 60 inch SXRD (lcos) with a native resolution of 1080P

He also appears to have both an HD-DVD player and a Blue-Ray player (Toshiba HDA1 HD DVDp,Sony BDP-S1(blu-ray)).

If only I had such a dilemma :)
