new to the forum and an employee @ circuit city.
looking into (2) 10" subwoofers in 1.08 next cubes + .12 woofer displacement for a 1.20 gross volume which is on the larger end of its' sealed rec. size.
-or- (2) 12" subwoofers in 1.06 net cubes + .14 woofer displacement for a 1.20 gross volume which is on the smaller end of its' sealed rec. size.
the 12"s would be punchier cause they are in a small enclosure? and the 10"s would be smoother?
so, in all... what would you recomend in a 2003 vw gti. amp is a kicker 1000.1 mono .
thanks.

They would sound like crap in a box that small.
Putting a sub in a small box generally creates huge response humps and generally sound choked off.
If all you have room for is a 1 ft3 box, Id suggest getting a single SR12 and 700 watt amp.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

im sorry, there might have been some confusion... the volumes i was speaking of was per sub. 1.2+1.2 = 2.4 total.
10" recomended = .88-1.2 +.12 driver displacment
12" recomended = 1.0-1.5 +.14 driver displacment
now... does that change your answer to my original question..
sorry bout the confusion.. -
Yes. Get the 2 12's.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

r u building your own box? do u already have the kkr 10001?SR 4 Life

okay... i am leaning towards the 12's. that box isnt going to make them real punchy, is it? cause 1.2 including the driver for the 12's is like is bare min. for air space.
while the 10's, would be in a bo towards the higher end of their rec. volume... wouldnt they have a smoother response?
maybe i am just confusing myself... haha..
as far as the kicker amp... i dont have it yet, but from my expirence they are great amps and i get a killer deal on them...
why? -
yes, i am building my own box... that was my next topic.. i was leaning towards single chamber. 3/4" mdf, double stacked on the face... should i use any polyfil?
why do you ask? -
i work for cc to. have you tought about ordering 2 c500.1's? as for a box can a mtxbs212v fit in your trunk? we put 2 sr12's in that box and it slamed.SR 4 Life

thought about it but i am on an extemely strict budget and the 1000.1 from kicker is def. cheaper then 2 500.1's from polk but is rated at the same power and holds the same quality.
and for the box, it can fit but i like sealed boxes + i need to save as much room as possible... 2 kids = a lot of **** to carry around. haha
odd question but does polk make grills for the SR series subs? -

I've yet to see some. You could probably come up with some Momo grills, but may have to put a raised lip around the SR sub to use these, due to the larger surround and additional excursion.
There was a link awhile back for some from PartsExpress (generic bar type grills) that would work better. -
cool... will check that out. thanks
