Does anyone have any comparison in the rti series and infinity beta series in terms of 2 channel music? Particular models: Infinity Beta 50's compared to the rti8.

Been a while, but I like the RTi by a decent margin over the Infinity

And if you can step up to the RTi 10, it's a no brainer. I'm in a distinct minority, but the RTi 10 is my favorite speaker in the current Polk line... even over the LSi's.

Of course, those are my ears and your taste may be different. Get all the opinions you like, but auditioning your choices yourself is a must.

And if you have electronics you will be mating to your new speakers and your dealer agrees:
1.) Audition the speakers at home - many dealers will let you take home an open box for the price of a CC imprint; or
2.) Take the electronics with you to the audition(s). A receiver and a CDP aren't too much to lug around.

But in any case take a variety of demo CD's that you know well to the audition...
    More later,
    Tour...

From my experience the Beta's sound dull and boring in comparison to the RTi series.

However in some cases I found the RTi's to be a little too bright and edgy.

So as Tour said: you really need to audition them if you can.

In regards to build quality....The RTi's beat the infinity's hands down. The Beta cabinets not only look cheap in comparison but they felt cheap to handle.

    Just my $.02 worth.

Do the Betas still have the metal grills? They are designed horribly and will give you 3-4 veils of sonic blockage in the high notes.

Wow. I totally forgot about the crap grills. PT is right. You'll want to remove the grills to make them sound half way decent.

I've got a set of Beta 50's and got rid of the covers/grills and made a set of cloth covered grills. They sounded much better. As far as compairison...I liked the Beta's over the polks I listened to with my amps. I still rave on my SDA's but I like to experiment with different set-ups.
