Coco Montoya - Dirty Deal Tour

We caught Coco and crew live at our favorite club last night. They're touring for their newly released (Jan. 2007) Alligator Records album "Dirty Deal". Most excellent!
Randy Hayes is touring with Coco (again) on drums and, if you've never experienced Randy's playing, go see the group for no other reason. He just "goes there" when he plays and he's bar none the BEST blues, blues/rock drummer I've ever heard.
Coco is like the proverbial fine wine--improving with age. His upside down playing technique (right hand neck on a left hand Strat body) gives his riffs a unique tone and attack. His stage presence, and connection with the audience, are likewise unique. Catch them if you get a chance in a local venue.

Was that Ram's Head in Annapolis? Great place to see a show, very intimate. It also precludes me from embarassing myself with my dance moves.Wristwatch--->Crisco

Yes, it was. It's spoiled us for a lot of other standing room venues in the area (State, Birchmeer, Ram's Head Live). Why stand in a mosh and (beer)slosh pit when you can sit down, enjoy some decent food and drink, and concentrate on the performance.

It would be nice to have another gathering of the Polkies at Rams Head in the near future for a concert. Yummy microbrews, good food and live music are the best combo! Rams Head is a nice intimate setting for a concert.
I keep checking every now and then for Chris Duarte to show himself again.

You've gotta winner there! Beer and music, doesn't (legally) get much better then that!
edit: Quite a line up they have listed! Charlie Musselwhite, James Cotton, The Commitments, John Mayall, and that's just from memory!

His new CD was on sale at Borders today so I picked it up. Very, very nice! I hadn't heard of this artist until seeing this thread! Glad I took the time to read it.DKG999
