Converting from component to HDMI

Is this a possible conversion? I know there will be no sound but I need to convert a component output on a DVD player to an HDMI in to plug into the HDMI switch box.

Basically I am trying to make the analog component signal be converted to digital and go into the HDMI cable.

Have you tried a google search? Pretty sure you'd turn up an enormous list of results.

Yep, and enormous list of NO's i've concluded
HDMI is digital only whereas DVI is digital and analog.
So you can go component -> dvi-i but not from dvi-i -> hdmi
It's for my sister so I'm just gonna have her buy a new DVD player with digital outputs(hdmi or DVi) -
I don't think there'd be any REASONABLE way to do that. It would be an active process, so you'd need something actively doing the conversions (some sort of processor). EG an upconverting receiver. You're not going to just be able to glue together some wires and get it to work.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Lancer, you're correct in part, but both HDMI and DVI are digital connections. Component cables carry an analog TV output from the player and are simply an inert pathway for the signal energy. The analog output therefore obviously can't be converted to digital simply with a wire; as was mentioned, an active analog to digital conversion would be necessary, which some receivers have provision for.

aculey you can go dvi to hmdi also you can go dvi to comp but it will be digital not analog
