Hello, I am new to this forum and I've noticed that there is a wealth of information here so I'm hoping to gain some knowledge from you guys, as I am fairly green when it comes to this stuff. I listen to all types of music, basically everything but country...

I recently purchased 2 pair of SR6500s and am planning to power both sets of SR's with my PPI A404.2 amplifier. My headunit is a Kenwood DDX6019, vehicle is a '06 Toyota RAV4. Any thoughts of this setup being enough/not enough power to bring these speakers to life and do them justice? I am a fan of crystal clear highs, any suggestions to maximize the setup?

Thanks in advance.

-Wes

Nice old school amp. Did these guys do a little over 400 watts RMS bridged? If you want to bi-amp one SR set it would be fine, but running both sets from this one amp may not give you the results you want. I take it you want to hook up one channel to each mid and tweeter combo....

Hi, thanks for the quick response and props on the amp. I had trouble finding the exact specs of the power output of the amplifier so that was another area I was a lil hazy on. But, yea I was planning to run the 4-channel amp through all 4 components. It sounds like I may not have enough juice to do these speakers justice...

    Hi,
I have the A404 and 2 A600s. That amp is 50x4 or 200x2. Your probably only going to be able to run one set of of that amplifier. Mac also sugeseted to me that I run the SR600 biamped on the A404. He said that the amp rating was pretty conservative and would probably give out about 75x4.

Congrats on your purchase good luck.

Thanks for the info. I've heard how PPI underrates their amps so I wasnt sure what to think. I'm really hoping the ~75wx4 will do a good job. I guess the best way to find out if it'll be suffice is to try it since I don't have another amp available to bi-amp each pair at the moment. I'll report back with my consensus once I get this all hooked up. Thanks again for your help.

Why don't you just use the fronts for now untill you get another amp. You probably don't need all that rear fill.

You're right, but I figured at $490/set; and a very healthy tax return, I'd treat myself to 2 pair. I occasionally watch DVDs in the car while on road trips so I thought it'd be nice to have a matching set in the rear.:D

I hope you have the serial numbers. Most of those places take of the serial numbers.

Yep, got the serial numbers. They were in sequential order too (i.e. AA65XXXXX84 & AA65XXXXX85) I did due diligence corresponding with the seller (100% feedback). Both sets came in their own unopened package and were bulk packed in a large polk audio cardboard box.

Today I had all my goodies installed to upgrade my RAV's sound system. (Dynamat/Amplifier/Speakers) ...it was a fairly large install job that took them 10 hrs to complete. Naturally, the system now sounds 1000% better; the difference is incredible. I was worried that my amp would not provide enough power but I am completely satisfied with the results! Now I just gotta break these bad boys in!!!
