PS3 Problems

Has anyone encountered problems with their PS3 yet?

Last week I noticed my PS3's disc drive making a lot more noise. It was also taking a little bit longer to load some games. I forgot about it, but then experienced quite a few freeze-frames while watching The Prestige on Bluray. So far this is the only title that's frozen for several seconds, but it was enough for me to take action. I exchanged the movie for a new copy the next day.

I dug up my PS3 purchase receipt today, and conveniently had 1 day left on the 90-day return at WalMart. I figured it definitely wouldn't hurt, so exchanged it for a new one. I also purchased a protection plan today, in case there are further issues.

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues. I can't say that my PS3 was truly malfunctioning... it was more like me being paranoid and taking preventative measures.

So far so good here, sorry to hear about that. I am however about to get my 2nd 360 replaced and my roommate is on his 3rd which we believe the drive is going out on. It makes this subtle little growl almost like the servo is straining and when I was playing Crackdown last night it completely locked up.

I am glad you exchanged your system just in the nick of time and don't blame you at all for getting the protection plan at all. I extended the warranty on my 360 after the first on failed.

I'm not surprised, all consoles have problems at launch... I got a bad powerblock with my 360 but that's the only problem i've had with it...

All Hail the Dreamcast for it's lack of technical problems!!
MacLeod: I guess youre lucky Polk has such lax hiring standards.

    Josh: Damn skippy!

The 1.50 firmware update had a bug that froze movies on some consoles. They released an update just a few days later that was supposed to fix it. I think I had one movie freeze on me. But it cleared up after the update.

I keep on top of the firmware updates. Got the 1.51 as soon as it came out. Not a single freeze or glitch. I also have been downloading and buying off the PS Store. All is well.
Dane, just the nick of time on that return. Good Job.

Hmm, that could have very well been the problem. I don't know when I last updated. Heh. Oh well. I got a new PS3.
Of course I was a big enough idiot not to save my files to a different HD before returning. Get to start ALL over on my Tiger Woods profile.

I agree to bad the company did not know how to promote it. It is great to take in the car or anywhere. The right size and great graphics.
