Is anyone running a video scaler in there set-up? I just read an article on the Dragonfly and it sounded like a great idea. I thought it was expensive so I looked for other models and found them as low as 495.00. Any members have any expriance with these?

I have done lots of research on them. My concusion is that the good ones are too expensive right now and the cheap ones are not much better than what is in my sony tv. Most video products you buy (tv, dvd player) will already have one in it. Is your tv 1080p? Does it take 1080p inputs? You have to remember that if you give the processor a bad signal, it wont look really good no matter how good the processor is. crap in, crap out. I think most people would be better off investing in a good tv with 1080p inputs and then buying a blu-ray or hd-dvd player that can take 1080p 24hz and convert that to 1080p 60hz output.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

EDIT: Also i think that the next step up in movie quality is to have movie makers film with 60 frames per second instead of 24. If that ever happends all these expensive processors wont be worth very much.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

Good luck with that. Considering 16mm film is about $100 a reel and it takes about 7 reels to shoot a 7-10 minute short, you are suddenly increasing your budget ALOT especially if you are using 35mm. This is not a viable option for most productions currently.
Also, no one wants to shoot anything but 24fps. It is one of the main reasons film is chosen. If a higher frame rate is desired, you might as well shoot digital because a huge part of the film aesthetic is being taken away anyway.
