My review on RTi12's!

My setup is a Denon AVR-887, RTi12's(fronts), crappy onkyo speakers for the center and surrounds and a Cerwin Vega Sub-150 sub. The speakers are very beautiful out of the box the build quality is everything i expected from Polk. The feet were easy to put on and once I got done bi-wiring them to my 887 it was time to demo something. Thankfully I got a hold of the new NIN Beside You In Time Blu-ray today @ Best buy. This BD runs TrueHD @ 4.6 mbps so this was a great blu-ray to demo. Now I had the Monitor70's a cupple months back so I was hoping for a little bit more depth and clarity w/ the RT's. I am speechless....I was going in thinking that that wern't going to blow me away because I haven't got external amps yet but they suprised me! They are bright playing music but not bright enough to be anoying. I have to turn my reciever up just a little more with these but not drasticly. I am pretty sure I have a decent reciever for the time being but I hope to sometime this year to add monoblocks to them to reach there full potential. The next demo was Underworld Evo. in Uncompressed PCM 5.1. This is what I listen to most is HT and this is what these speakers were made for. Even with no external amps they produce alot of detail. The negative is the woofers barely move from lack of power. I will add to this thread over the next cupple of days with comments from other demos that i will test, and I will also take some pics tonight and post cause I know there is not much in pics of the RTi12's on the forum. O yeah they are heavy as hell.

Congrats! Enjoy them. . . no NEED to buy any separate amps at this point, but they certainly wouldn't hurt if you add 'em down the road :)

Congrads... I would be careful not to turn up the volume too loud until you get an amp. If your happy now, just wait until you add more power…..

One other thing....I noticed on the bottom woofer on the rubber surround there is 2 very very tiny cuts in the rubber. They are not cut all the way throgh but they are visible. Should I not worry about this or should I call polk. The only reason I ask is if I do call them will I have to send the whole speaker back or can I send the woofer back for a replacement? And I mean tiny cuts like very tiny I will take a pic tonight.

The woofers may loosen up some as the speakers break in. They may sound better after you have them a couple weeks.

If it were me, I'd call Polk customer service and ask them about the cut in the rubber- that's not good.
