I've used D-Link and Linksys at home, and so far Linksys is my favorite. I'm running a desktop, two laptops and an Xbox360. Occasionally I would have to reset the D-Link but I've never had to do that with the Linksys.

I guess my first post wasn't much help. I'd agree with polkthug on the linksys suggestion. I have a dlink wbr-1310 and I wouldn't suggest it. I have to reset it fairly often, but I guess for $20 you get what you pay for.

Just stay away from Belkin and Netgear and you'll be fine.

+1 for Linksys here, though I never had a problem with my D-Link either.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Thanks guys for the info so far. As for the bucks I"m willing to spend , some of the things I looked at on C.C. web site were in the 100 to 200 dollar range. The Main thing for me is to get it right I,m leaning toward the linksys but which ones.

I bought a clearance Linksys at Wal-Mart, it was the Xbox/PS2 game model. It was like $80. It took forever to setup through the PS3 but it did not work in the end. It constantly keep dropping the signal. I had the Linksys wireless router also. I returned it and plug in directly now............. Works fine now.
Downloaded alot form the PSStore last night.

I don't think I'd spend over $100 for a wireless router. I bought my Linksys G almost 2 years ago for $80. I can't imagine spending more than that on one... especially now with 802.11n. I've run a 360 through it, and am now running the PS3 through it. No problems yet.

When my customers call me up with a router problem I ask them if it is a linksys. I have them run ipconfig /release, and ipconfig /renew. If they get there ip's, and DNS but can't get on the internet it means the nat chip is blown. Ever since Cisco bought out linksys the quality has gone down hill. I personally like netgear. They have held up the best long term, and the configuration is simple.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. No, i have a spare modem. So i just unplug the phone cord to the one i'm not using. It is simple and i get a full speed, undisturbed connection.

Wired is way way better if you can run the cables.

I personally prefer Linksys. I also like Netgear just fine, but I always buy Linksys. I've had bad results using D Link products.

Wired is much easier and more stable. I use a wired network for the desktop computers in the house and then a wireless router configured as an access point for my pocket pc, phone and laptop connections. Go wired if you can, but if you plan to use a laptop or mobile device wireless is very nice. The wireless setups we use at work are really expensive but nice and dependable.

I would suggest the linksys or Buffalo. Positive feedback from both. Im running 360, ps3, wireless notebook, wireless desktop, and my own pc with no upset or headache at all. I am able to print , share a 250 gig harddrive full of media over the wireless connection and am also able to share all of that media through the 360 and PS3. Good luck pal.

PS: Sure you can get more speed via wired than wireless, but who wants cables everywhere unless you are capable of running wires through the ceiling and using jacks, which would look very clean. Go wireless, and add an external omni-directional antenna.
    Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Used to have a Linksys router hardwired to network our computers at home.

When we went wireless in order to add the Xbox360, we chose a Netgear router (WGR614 version 6, 54 Mbps). Got it off of ebay for something like $30.
Never had any troubles with it; no burps, hiccoughs, nada.

And the Xbox 360 wireless controller had no trouble recognizing the router, and vice versa.

I'd also suggest getting the Microsoft Xbox360 branded wireless controller to hook into the rear of your 360. It'll save a LOT of time and hassle.
