Just got my RTi12's this morning and I will be posting a review probably tomorrow but my question is....I have A denon AVR-887, RTi12(fronts) and Onkyo HTS790 center and surrounds that came with a HTIB. CSi5 and FXi5's on the way. Is it best to do the auto-calibration or adjust myself? I get confused about Small vs Large settings and LFE vs LFE+Main. What should these setting be on? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also I have a Cerwin Vega Sub-150 15" Sub. Right now I have it hooked up through my sub pre-out on my reciever and I am using a Y-adapter to plug into the back of the sub. What should my volume and crossover be set on @ the sub and the reciever. My room size is 15 X 15.

    Welcome to the forum!

I have the 4306 Denon so I’m hoping the 887 has a similar setup menu and options. You can use the below settings as a starting point. Once you do this, you will then need to get yourself an SPL meter from RadioShack and calibrate all of your speakers. I would just wait until you get the new center and surrounds to calibrate since it appears you have them on the way.

    Do the setup manually
    -Set all speakers to small.
    -Sub = Yes
    -Sub = LFE
-Crossover = 80HZ for all. Start here, but adjust to your preference later.
    -Set your speaker distances
-Set the EQ if this receiver allows for it.
-Not sure if you need the y-adapter or not. My SVS does not.
-Be sure your Audio input sources are at 0DB to start. Adjust each source accordingly with the SPL meter.

Again, this is just a starting point. Your listening preferences are likely different from mine and your room layout is much different. So there in no point in me giving you my current setup. Also, you may want to consider an amp to drive the RTi12s. They are not as power hungry as the LSi series but as most speakers will, they will benefit greatly. You need to ask yourself what the main purpose of the rig is. Is it for HT or music? Answer that and then determine what type of amp to get.

    Hope this helps.
