Actually you don't.
you connect the computer to the amp (or AVR or PreAmp).
What you need is to locate the computer's audio output jack.
there shuld be a few audio jacks behind the computer , Or upfront (depends on the case), or if it is a laptop it is usualy located on the side.
there are a few jacks, you are looking for the one coloured green. connect that jack to one of your amp's rca inputs.
in some cases the sound cards supports 5.1, typically with 3 output jacks, you could either connect all 3 (L/R , Sr L Sr R and center), or just connet L /R (again ... green).
high end computers (i.e the latest intel based macs) come with digital out support, usualy optical. in this case you would have to provide some more details: which model do u have, or maybe even a pic. -
Are you talking about computer speakers or home speakers?

your sound card just does not have the guts to push them. I assume your speaker are not powered, and you card is putting out a line level signal. You could find a small headphone amp to bosst the signal, but it still might not be enough. goo luck.

The only info I see on the speakers are polk audio on the front, and on the bottom it says: >HIPS HB< The speakers are about 5 inches tall, and shaped almost like an egg. They worked great on my other computer, I dont know why it wont work well on this one...

Your old computer was probably an HP that actually had a small amplifier built into the sound card. These were fairly rare, and didn't last too long. You need to get a set of new computer speakers that plug into the wall. The speakers you are describing now do not have an external source of power.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. I have the same set, and they did come with an hp. I believe the hp threw about 2 watts into them, were as most computer throw some thing in the milliwatt range. On my hp they were find, and o a gateway I got for free the were barley audible. They do need some sort of amplification. At on point I hooked them up to a powered boston sub and they sounded fine.

Exactly, from the description the OP gave, these are non-powered speakers that came with an HP Pavilion computer.-Eric
