DVD source upgrade

Ok, call me naive, but is this really true?
I recently upgraded my DVD player, from a Target brand Memorex to a used Pioneer player from Mark here on the forum. Watched a movie last night on it, and the bass was so much louder, the overall volume was better and I'd have to say the Audio was just a notch improved.
Will a source improve all of this, or are my ears just clearing up from allergies?

I just updraded my CD source from an older Rotel 965 to an Ah! Njoe with the upsampler,,I'm hearing things on disc that I never knew were there,,I don't think that source can be over emphasized,,the music is much " smoother" and less harsh/bright to my old ears. EnjoyJC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Absolutely!!! The better the source the better (or in the case of poor recordings) or worse the sound. This is what so many including myself preach about all the time. You gotta hear it to believe it sometimes."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
I believe I believe!!!
I don't notice that big of an improvement in the visual side of things, but again, I'm not running a HDTV either.
All in all, a worthy 70 dollar upgrade I would say! Thanks Mark (but mostly Kevin (opus) for the recommendation!)Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member
