I actually had an Alpine Type-X about a month and a half ago. It is a very nice sub that I really liked. In the small enclosure it requires, it can throw out some very impressive low end. For my application, the Soundsplinter seemed to blend in better with the rest of my system. I wished I would have experimented a bit more with the SWX though..... The Soundsplinter can also get deep and loud and stay clean doing this, just like the Alpine. The Type-x just seemed to have more output on the low end of the bass spectrum (compared to the higher ranges), where the RL-p seems to be more uniform with the bass output. I think I could have made the Type-x sound more uniform if I would have tried a little more.

I think Fosgate still makes solid amps and would not have a problem running their gear. Before I picked up my ARC 1500, I was actually looking at getting a Power Series amp to run my sub. It was last year's model.... nice prices right now. Thing is that it would not really fit under my seat......

I'm not a big fan of the 01-03 model RF amps, but their new line up is really good. I'm not really sure why the 99-00 get such a bad rep. Ive dealt with ones before that and i ran 3 '99 series power amps and they were vastly underrated and sounded better than some of their earlier models.

Im a pretty big fan of RF. Yeah, theyre being sold in Best Buy now but that doesnt really bother me.

Im with Cody about not being wild about the last generation of amps. They were still well made and easily exceeded their ratings but they just looked.....stupid.

The new linup looks great! I wouldnt have a problem at all running their amps.
