SurroundBar Setup Question

Got the surround bar a few days ago and am fooling around with a number of setup variations. I have a 5.1 system and at current I am only using the center, front right, and front left inputs on the unit. I am wired for surround and have rear speakers in the wall in the back of our viewing room. Although I am very happy with the frequency response and range in conjunction with the sub, I am not getting the stereo separation I would like from the fronts in the surroundbar. Since the SDA technology is built in to the unit, can I just bridge the inputs (in parallel) for the fronts and surrounds in the bar (while leaving the rears connected as they are today) to get a simulated spatial sound? Or am I just overthinking this?
