As pro amps go, I've got a decent amount of respect for Crown. We use one of their lower models to power some monitors for our DJ, and they work great.

I dunno Sid, you might wanna hook them up and tell us how it sounds. ;)
Lovin that music year after year.

Taylos wont see this Crown - period. Sorry. Strictly a subwoofer amp to me.

lol - Im sure itll sound fine, but my Odyssey is a beast.

I want to say this Crown is a digital amp, its extremely light weight - right at 17 pounds.

I've heard some pro amps that were pretty decent.

I know one gentleman that runs a set of Maggie 1.2's with large QSC amps, and I have to admit, it sounds really good.

    Enjoy the new toy!

I think itll do good as a subwoofer amp.

It has cool EQing features that I think I can utilize to flatten out curves and such, so we shall see.

Well my curiosity peaked about that fan.

What I will tell you is this - anyone who runs a Pro Amp on their speakers, need to hear a real amp.

Jesus H Christ - this is possibly the BRIGHTEST my system has EVER sounded, and I have the treble set to -6db on my preamp. I normally have it on zero.

It sounds busy... even on easy going songs. Sounds like its on speed - uncontrolled and bothersome.

Bass seems to be decent, the RT55s hate em though.

I like the amp though, I think itll do good for my application.

    Fan isnt to loud.

Yeah my subs dont make to much treble thankfully.

Yeah, the fan turns on about... every... 5 minutes... if you are running it pretty hard.

The fan itself is probally as loud as a computer, maybe a little softer. I cant hear it during slow songs or anything like that. It comes on for about a minute and its off again...

It has a WINE to it when the fan turns on, but like the fan you cant really hear it.

The only time you can hear the fan is if you catch it during a song transition - which I can deal with.

Just another thing about this amp....

Its what? 275 into 8 Ohms. 500 into 4 ohms.

FWIW, my Odyssey could walk all over this amp, anyday of the week in power at a measly 110 watts/8 ohms. ;) But Im more concerned about that 4 ohm rating.

It would be like a breakfast meal. So that toally ruins that whole "LOTS OF POWER ON THE CHEAP" saying. Numbers mean squat. Dont read me wrong, the amp puts out a buttload of power - but the difference is not that much. But the Odyssey is a beast.

If you think the Polks sound bright with this amp, then I wonder how it will sound when your Taylos arrive?

Reminds me to never use a pro amp with hi-fi speakers.

Yeah I plugged the Odyssey back up...
Tremendous amounts of difference, jesus - no contest.

Odd though, lately my rig has just sounded fantastic. It seems like a component finally kicked in...

Considering everything else has quite a few hours on it except the Odyssey, I guess its the key. But everything just sounds fantastic!

According to others and Mr. Bunge, the Odyssey line of amplifiers require some burn in time before they really open up. Please let us know your findings.

Ive noticed the past few weeks its just sounded...larger - just expansive, very tall, very deep, very wide.

I havnt changed anything recently either.

And it was gone with the Crown - so I am assuming its the Odyssey.

The capacitors and output transistors in your Odyssey might have just taken some time to break-in, and I believe that this is normal with most amplifiers.

Now why do the Definitive BP10Bs make my 'SR702 hot?

The BP10B are 6 ohm nom - and dip ocasionally to 4. Very demanding speakers.

Ive probally got a solid 50-70 hours on my Odyssey, playing time. Its been on for about 3-4 months straight.
