When working on my SDA-1C's I discovered that the plug and socket for the Tweeters and the plug and socket for the woofers are the same. If you plug them in opposite you get a little sound with lot of distortion.

Bingo. One of these drivers is not like the others... The upper stereo driver (the one I noted looked a little "different") is a MW6502, not a MW6511. That seems to be a smoking gun.

My new driver arrived from Polk earlier in the week and I reassembled the 1Cs... and they're back. There's still a subtle difference in sound between the two, but it's on the very edge of perceptibility.

While I had them open, I installed new binding posts for the interconnect and build myself an interconnect cable, per DarqueKnight's description. I've also got the new tweeters sitting on my work bench waiting for me to have time to install them. 8)

There still seems to be something up with the dimensional circuitry/drivers/cable, but that's gonna have to wait a while before I have time to make objective observations.

    Thanks everybody for your help.

The polarity was reversed on one of the tweeters... Amazing the difference it'll make.

    Hello all,

I have a pair of SDA 1-C's. It appears that the stereo drivers on the Left speaker are not functioning. I have checked the wiring to make sure it is correct, additionaly if I move the Stereo drivers from the left speaker to the right they function properly. I feel that I might have a problem with my crossover. I pulled it out and the soldering is very sloppy. I think the previous owner attempted to fix the same problem, but instead made a big mess. Any ideas on the best approach to get these functioning properly again? I had a set of SDA's previously and miss them a great deal! Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have a similar problem with my left SDA 2 speaker. The stereo drivers don't work at all. I think if you touch it, you can feel some vibration. I had to bring this old thread up because it seemed relevant. Please help! I haven't checked anything internally by the way.
