SR6500 Bi-amp power rating

HI everyone,
I'm trying to track down some information on the sr6500's power rating when bi-amped. i understand that they are rated at 150wrms running passive, but does remain constant when bi-amped? I have spoken to someone in the polk technical department in Australia and have been told that it is 150wrms passive and 150 per-speaker bi-amped, which sounds far fetched to me.

I'm using a MTX-1004 which has served me very well over the years. Below are the specs:
RMS Power 12.5 VDC
2 Ohm Load 180 w x 4
4 Ohm Load 90 w x 4
Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC
2 Ohm Load 250 w x 4
4 Ohm Load 125 w x 4

I see that everyone recommends the polk C400.4, which makes sense. But at this point in time i am unable to upgrade my amplifiers.

So my real questions are:
When bi-amping the sr6500 does the amp now see a 2 ohm load?
What is the power ratings for the tweet/midbass when setup in bi-amp mode?

it'd be 4 ohms and rated at 150w/speaker. Have at it. 90w won't be to much just don't go stupid with the gain since that's how distortion happens.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
My deck is an eclipse cd8455 which has 8v preouts, the MTX1004 has a Maximum Input of 8Vrms. This means that gain will be be at it's minimum, as it is now. Sensible volume levels is an obvious necessity. But do you see an issue with the HU/amp/speaker combo in biamp mode?

Bi-amp is the best way to run. It offers so much more flexibility in tuning.

I have the SR-6500's running off of a C400.4 (bi-amped) which was rated at 94 watts per channel at 14.4V if I remember correctly (tested, not advertised rating). I have seen no issues.

howie, are you using the passive x-overs or the x-over built into the C400??

MacLeod: i totally, agree with you there, i'm returning passive 2-way after running a 3-way active setup. I just don't want to cause any damage to the speakers by over powering the tweeter. Wost case scenario I'll wait and get a c400.4.

It might end up been a case of bi-amping and keeping the volume knob at a sensible level, as there is no room for adjusting gains with this setup.

I use both actually. On the tweeters, I turn off the active XO but on the mids I have the XO set to high pass at 50 HZ. On the other side of the amp I run the passive XO's the set came with. I feel much better with the passives in the line to keep me from doing something stupid.
