I knew that title would catch some attention...I know; SDA is great and I love it, but, I am right now laughing my a$$ listening to a non SDA system in which I hear things coming feets beyond the speakers. If somebody came in the room they would think I lost it.

CD Player: Bada stock with a GE tube
Pre: Audio Research SP16L
Amps: ASL AV-20's
Speakers: Von Schweikert VR-1 monitors.
Signal Analog 2 IC's
Cheap 12g wires.

I have no idea what one component is doing this, or if it's the sinergy of the system; maybe the Mundorf caps in the monoblocks? I don't know, and I really don't care, but I'm loving it.

Anyone experienced this?? man I love this audio thing ;)

There's so much more than SDA in this hobby, enjoy yourself.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I agree Mark, and I'm blessed because I have a nice pair of SDA's and can also experiment other things. All I can say from the little experience I have with audio, is that staying static is NOT what you should do; experience different things has given me so much satisfaction that I'm sure I will continue that path. Maggies on my list ;)

I'm about to scratch a Von Schweikert itch myself in the next week or so.

I have very fond memories of various SDA's I've had and heard, especially the SRS-2. That being said, I don't own any now - and it's only gotten that much better.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I get a ridiculous soundstage with my Amazings. Its not as wide as SDAs, but it is deeper and the imaging is better.

SDAs are nice, but its not worth settling on forever.

SDA's were my first decent speakers, they will be my last. What happens in between is up to the imagination.

A pair of Amazings in oak are the only ones I think I could try because the look so damn good, But I gotta love my 1.2's.

You dont need SDA if youve never heard it you dont know what your missing!
but some people simply like to sit in the dark for long periods!!!!!

I am keeping my SDA and my Amazings. But I am always willing to hit something on the side.

    Maybe some ESL?

    Maybe some Horn's?

Speakers is the one component that can make the most changes in a system. Once you have some decently good source, pre and amp, swapping speakers can make your system sound so different (good or bad) that I particularly plan to try as many speakers as I can. I won't ever again say "this is my last pair of speakers"....though I think I'll always have some pair of SDA's.

    Saweet... I love this hobby:)
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I was willing to part with my SDAs. I would be hard pressed to ever part with my Amazings. Its going to have to take a special speaker for me to sell them. I will more than certainly bring other speakers to relief pitch, but thats it.
