I find myself in a bit of situation here... Been researching cd players to purchase after I purchase a home in the next few months. Target price was around 600 bucks. I new the bada would always be there with the 499 (must be good as no one resells :) ), then I see the jolida new in another thread for 549 new!!!!! Fortunately, I'm not married at the moment and can afford to be a little irresponsible and not listen to a bunch of **** lol :D

Question - Anyone with experience with both of these players? That jolida may have leaped to the front with that price and may force my hand to move sooner.

If a used Bada hits the market, it tends to be priced at $400.... I had one lined up over at the 'gon, but the individual dropped the unit while packing it up for me. Completely ruined it cosmetically and functionally... Sucked for both of us.

I believe Early B has performed a shoot-out between the two units. Maybe he'll chime-in or you could PM him.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Based on looks alone, if the price were the same, I'd go for the Bada!

Hmmmm...where were those pics of the Bada...?

Well, of course I'm biased towards the Bada. IMO it'll beat out the Jolida, especially once you change out the stock tube to a better one ($5).

The Bada has excellent build quality and plays HDCD.

The Jolida will have better resale value, if that's important to you.

    Can't go wrong either way.

I have the Bada and had the Jolida; IMO they are very close soundwise. I am getting one of those $549 Jolidas and plan to mod it...just a little bit.

    Both are great units.

And you're doing good. If I had to choose I think I'd take the bada, just because it's "different" ;)

Looking at your list I can only comment on 2 of them as those are the only ones that I am familiar with. Jolida vs. Consonance 120 linear (haven't heard the upsampling one)

The jolida I find to be quite more dynamic sounding than the above mentioned as well as my current one (see sig). However, I also find it to be much more digital sounding and makes me grow tired of it quickly. The 120 linear I did not hear in my system but to me the seperation of instruments was exceptional and it was very analog sounding. I could listen to that one all day. I also compared it to a Creek Evo player in the same system and it was no contest in my opinion. The Creek Evo still sounded very digital. Like I stated though the 120 wasn't in my system and the system I heard it in was on a 16K amp and 16K speakers......Canadian of course.

As everything audio it depends on what sound you prefer.

Just my little bit of input.

    Good luck,

hmmm, thx for the comments all!!!! Almost pushed the panic button.
Being I don't plan to do the heavy mods, immediate tube rolling would probably be the extent of it, guess I'll sit on it longer without fear of losing out on the Jolida as the consensus from all i can dig up says they are fairly close.

With more time, I may just investigate the return policy on the Jolida. Might try a 30 day side by side by side comparison of. It will take a bit of coordination of getting tubes and players all within the same credit card billing cycle. Don't want to get stuck with interest :)

    Jolida (??) - bada (30 days) - cambridge 640 v2 (tweeter 30days)

Only problem is if I go with the cambridge, I would have to keep the retail version (cost) from tweeter....wierd loyalty thing with me

If I do this comparison, I'll post the results, just don't expect any fancy audiophile terms, gonna give it to ya raw and in english lol

Forget about the Cambridge. Not in the same league as the Bada or Jolida. (I used to own v1.)

Just pick one -- Jolida or Bada. After you roll tubes, you'll eventually wanna modify whatever you buy, so flip a coin if you have to.

I'd also forget the Music Hall and the NAD. I've had both and now have the Jolida. Your list is getting smaller;)
