I want to buy some of his albums, but don't know where to begin.
So, all you Van fans, could you please recommend some of his best for me?
Thanks!

Moondance is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. The B-Side (well, second half) is just amazing, even moreso than the well-known songs in the first half.
Tupelo Honey is a great album, as are Days Like This, His Band and Street Choir, Hard Nose the Highway, Saint Dominic's Preview, and Veedon Fleece.
Probably in that order, from my favorite to least. I don't have much of his newer stuff so I can't comment on those (although Days Like This is relatively new).
If you are a hardcore fan you might like Astral Weeks but it's very.... raw. I'd warm up with the ones listed above before you get Astral Weeks. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I'd recommend "Moondance" and his "Best Of" Greatest Hits. "Tupelo Honey" (the song) is not on his greatest hits because it reminds him of the woman he wrote the song about.Carl

Wow that has never happened to me. -
Them, featuring Van Morrison. His earliest recorded work. It holds up really well. The best songs on the album "Gloria" and "The Story of Them"."I drank what?" Socrates

i'd say any van is worth having, but if you don't have it already, get moondance. that would be a good start.

I highly recommend 'A Night in San Francisco' - a heavenly live compilation of his rock/jazz/blues periods.[
