voltage of speakers?

can someone tell me what the voltage should be set at (for the gain) for these speakers with the following amp

i have the JL audio guide to setting the gain but it only shows u how to find the voltage you need with their amps and speakers...

100 Watts -- 1.0 Ohms, V=10.0 -- 2.0 Ohms, V=14.14 -- 4.0 Ohms,


i saw that

so does that meana with 100 watt rms speakers i need to set my gains to 14.14 volts or does it go by the RMS of my amp which is 80x4 so i would follow this

80 Watts -- 4 Ohms, V=17.88 -- 6 Ohms, V=21.90 -- 8 Ohms, V=25.29

and set my gain voltage to 17.88?

You go by the RMS of the amp.... unless you want your speaker to get less than that amount of power.

so i need to get a voltmeter and turn my gain until the speakers terminals are reading 17.88 volts

as long as you're running the amp with a 4 ohm load, yes

alright so i had some audio installation place set my amp but my volume on the cd payer goes up to 35 but he said don't go over 25 and when i do it gets all distorted is that because he has the gain set too high...
