Hi Everyone!

Ok so I am a junior at the University of Maryland. I am taking a junior English class. One of the assignments is to write a set of simple instructions that would be used in a professional environment.

I have chosen to explain how to attach banana plugs to a set of standard speaker wire.

Part of the assignment is to conduct a usability study. This is where I need all of your help. I need as many people as possible to take a look at the attached instructions and give me some feedback regarding the instructions. Could you please respond in this way:

Going step by step please rate how well the instructions explain each step. The scale will be 1 to 5. I need it to be step by step.

1 = These instructions are impossible to make sense of.

5 = There is no possible way I could mess this up by following these instructions.

Give some comments on how I could change it to be clearer if you have them.

Example:

Step 1: 4
Step 2: 5
Step 3: 5
Step 4: 3 (comments)
Etcetera…

It should only take a few minutes and i NEED this information.

Thanks a bunch guys!

-Jake

Looks pretty good to me. Probably give it a 4.5. Nicely illustrated, which makes a world of difference.

    Two suggestions:
    1) at the end, repeat the photo of plugging the 'nanners into the speaker.
    2) add cautions that when making any connections, the equipment must be turned off to prevent accidental shorting of the speaker wires. Say it up front, then say it again at the end. This includes never pulling the 'nanners out of the speaker when the power is on. Folks can easily make the mistake of popping the connectors out to switch speakers while the system is running. Think that's too stupid for anyone to do? Never underestimate the ability of someone to screw it up. I knew a guy in high school to was checking his car over; wanted to see about the tension on the fan belt. Forgot to turn the engine off first. Messed his hand up really bad. :(

    Good luck!
