Hello everyone, proud to be a member of this forum! I am planning on building a dedicated home theater late this summer , early fall. The room will be 12 ft wide, 14.6 feet long, with a 7 ft ceiling. I am leaning towards this set up: 2 Polk lsi9 for left and righ front, lsic center, and 2 lsifx surrounds, with a PSW1000 sub. Would this be good for this size room? I am planning on paring it with a 92" or 100" diagonal Stewart Firehawk SST and a Sony VPL-VW50 projector. I was leaning toawds getting the Outlaw 990 and 7500 or the 770 for the pre amp/ amp combo. Any suggestions? The seating will be 11 to 12 ft back from the screen in a group of four Berkline 45004 group leather recliners. Also the room colors will be black satin finish on walls, and ceiling with black carpeting. Please, feel free to offer any advice, suggestions, or information. Thanks again guys!

Sounds like a great system to me; the only thing I would change is the sub; look at SVS.

    Welcome!

Nice system... 9s up front are good enough for your foundation. It will handle HT and 2ch listening with aplomb.

    Get an SVS sub instead.

Okay, sounds like an svs sub may be the way to go,, but which one? And this system will be primarily for movies, 60 % and 40 % concerts dvd and multi-channel audio

Get the biggest SVS you can afford.

+1 on investigating something other than the outlaws if you are going to listen to that much music compared to movies. I wasn't impressed with their musical nature. Demo some amps if you can...But also, there is a reasonably low risk in buying used equipment since most of the time you can turn around and sell if for what you bought it for if you don't like it. ADCOM is good bang-for-the-buck.
    HT
    RTi70 mains
    CSi30 center
    RTi28 Rears
    Velodyne CHT-12
    H/K AVR-247
    ADCOM GFA-7000
    Samsung PN58B860
    Playstation 3

    2-Channel
    Polk Audio LSi15's
    Rotel RCD-1072
    Nakamichi CA-5 Pre
    ADCOM GFA-555
    Signal Cable Analog II IC's
    Signal Ultra Bi-Wire Speaker Cables

I would consider getting LSi15s instead of LSi9s unless you are really commited to bookshelves. If you are planning to buy stands for them, you will need good ones since they are heavy. The LSi15s really don't look any more intrusive than the LSi9s up on stands, and due to their weight, the 9s are a bit top-heavy up there which can be an issue if you have children or dogs. I think the LSi15 is the better-balanced speaker as well especially for music listening.

The LSiC is a fine center channel speaker. I actually prefer the LSi9 as a center channel speaker. It's hard to buy just one, of course, but if you were considering ever going to a 6.1 system the other LSi9 can be used as a rear center speaker. I actually use a pair of LSi9s for my center channel and love them there. The LSi9s can sometimes be purchased as a pair for little more than a single LSiC.

The LSi Fx is a stellar surround speaker. Obviously, LSi9s can be used there if you prefer direct-radiating surrounds, but you won't be able to wall-mount LSi9s. The LSi7s could be used as surrounds and can be wall mounted, but I would go with the LSi Fx.

I use Outlaw amps to drive everything with a 7125 to drive one center channel LSi9 and the top end of the LSi15s. I have three 2200 monoblocks to power the low end of the LSi15s and the other LSi9 center. I am using LSi7s as rear surround speakers and they are great for that purpose. I prefer a direct-radiating speaker in that position. I am happy with the Outlaws and I think they provide good value, but I rather suspect that those who feel that these amps are less musical than others are probably correct, and at some point, I may get a big 2 channel amp to power my LSi15s and do away with 2 of the 2200 monoblocks. The Outlaws, however are great for home theater.

Sorry this is so long-winded. Obviously, it represents my opinion but it is based on personal experience. I have experimented with LSi9 L/R vs LSi15 L/R, one LSiC vs one LSi9 vs two LSi9s for center channel, one LSiC vs one LSi9 vs one LSi7 as a single rear surround for 6.1, and LSi 9s vs LSi7s as rear surrounds for 7.1 I have been delighted with the LSiFX as side surrounds and wouldn't consider switching.

My current configuration (which I plan to stick with) is a 7.1 surround set up with LSi15 mains (biamped), 2 LSi9 centers (single amped), LSiFX side surrounds, LSi7 rear surrounds (all single amped).
