Question about surge protectors...

With my newly aquired equipment in the last couple of weeks I've ran out of room in my a/v stand which has caused me to have to rearrange my gear. Okay, what you see in the picure is temporary until I can figure some things out but what I'm thinking about doing is getting rid of the Monster HTS5100 and going with some sort of power strip. Anyone else in here using a power strip type of surge protector? My main concern which really isn't that big of a deal is connecting the amp to a strip style surge protector. I can always plug the amp directly into the 120 amp receptable which has a Monster subwoofer surge protector already installed. Every since I rearranged things now when I power things on it has a static sound at power up but then goes away so I'm thinking maybe my cable arrangement has something to do with it but then again it could have something to do with the center speaker being on top of the HTS5100. What do you guys think I should do. Check out the picture to see what I'm talking about.

Why can't you set the power conditioner on the floor behind the cabinet? I use a concrete patio block painted black as a base and have my power conditioner setting on that, out of site, behind the equipment cabinet. Just a thought.

In all honesty, I would look into a different rack, maybe a 3 section if you can stand the width. This would be for ventilation for your new Outlaw amp as much as for a better fit for your gear.

I would also plug my amp directly into the wall outlet, technically for your amp to deliver its 2100 watts, it deserves its own circuit.

I would not plug the amp in a power strip. I used to have a bad clipping problem with my old Outlaw 770 and I realized it was because it was plugged into a power strip. Plug the amp directly into the wall if you have a dedicated circuit or look into a non- current limiting protector for the best results.
Check out the Salamnder racks also. I have space problems and found a rack to hold it all.

I just picked up a Monster HTS800 power strip for my new LCD setup. It has top surge protection plus the clean power. Just in a power strip for much cheaper than a component box. I should get this week.......
