Hello everybody! I'm a newbie in the speaker department.
I just got a good deal on rti12, fxi5, lsic, and infinity subwoofer for the fraction of a money. Do I need to get rid of my lsic and get a csi5? I'm planning to get svs subwoofer but it might probably a while. I need an amplifier that will run the rti12, any recommendation on brand? My budget is about $1000 - 1400. I have a sony es receiver that I bought 8 years ago. It was one of the top of the line back then. It has a pre out. Can I used it as a processor to amplifier? In the future I am going to get a pre/processor but not right now. Any recommendation and suggestions will greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Nice speakers! Yes I would return the LsiC and get the csi5. It just does not fit in with the rti series. A SVS sub is awesome. I would definitely get an amp to run the rti12's as they benefit from the extra power. Lastly, you can use your Sony receiver as a pre/pro since it has pre-outs. As for an amp, look at the Anthem mca series, staement series is too much money for the rti series, Oulaw 5 channel amp, Earhtquake 5 channel as those are prety much my favorites.

You will certainly want to trade the LSiC for the CSi5. I had a CSi3 due to space constraints and wanted more so I tried the LSiC for about 12 hours and ended up trading that in the next day for a CSi5. I had to put the CSi5 in a different location due to its size. It is a large center channel. The front sound stage now sounds the way it should.
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Welcome Ray. I noticed you said you had A preout. You should have a L,R,C,SL,SR,& SB preouts. If you don't then you won't be able to plug in a separate amplifier. If you do then great.

You should look at getting an amp of at least 200wpc to make those 12's shine. And to save money in the long run get a 5-7 channel amp.

Outlaw Audio has good bang for the buck amps new. You can get even more for your money going used via Audiogon.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I heard a lot about outlaw amplifier. I will try to check out audiogon for any outlaw amp.
My receiver has a pre-out for front left, front right, rear left, rear right, 2 for the sub and 1 for center. I hope they will work.
Can I used any rca cable to connect the pre out to amplifier or should I used a brand name? Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hello again, I have another questions.
There are 4 binding post on my RTi 12, does it matter if I used the top or the bottom? Do I need to removed the flat metal jumpers? I'm not going to bi-amp because I dont know what it means. Do I need to used banana plug or any connector to the speaker? Is it okey to just slide it inside the binding post?
Last questions, any comments on sherbourn amplifier especially the 7/2100?
Thanks again, I will appreciate your help.

    Ray,

It does not matter if you hook up to the bottom or top posts as long as you leave the jumper in place.

You will need rca IC's to connect the amp to your Sony, then connect the speakers to the amp & you are all set.

That Sherborn will get the job done & then some. Hopefully you don't throw your back out trying to lift the thing!

    Thanks cfrizz for the reply.
Do I need to buy banana plug or any connector for the speaker wire or it doesnt matter if I dont put any connector? And one more thing, is it okey to connect speaker wire with a connector. My wire is a little too short. Does it affect the performance of the speaker?
Thanks again for all your help.
