Budget isnt really an object... Ill save up whatever I need to get whatever it is that will best meet my needs.
Main goals is absolute accuracy with music, the real kicker is - I want absolutely earth moving, mind bending, gut wrenching, subsonic bass for home theater. All with a few adjustments...
Heres is what I am trying to decide with...
1) Pair of SB 12+
2) Pair of PB12+
3) Pair of Tyler Acoustic Taylo Bass Modules
4) Pair of VMPS 215 Subwoofers with a Crown XTI 1000 Amplifier...
I really like the possibilities of number 4.
The Crown XTI series has a built in crossover, EQ, the whole 9 yards. Definitely would make my life easier. The combo would run me right around 1800 shipped total.
Any thoughts.

Out of the choices listed (I'm not familar with the Taylo Modules), I'd go number 4 for the best of both worlds.
Don't rule out a pair of Martin Logan or Vandersteen subs.... They define 'musical', and have the response and power needed for a killer HT experience.

I've been really impressed with my SB12+ for filling in the low end with my Magnepan 1.6's, but I don't think with two of them it's going to approach the level of bass performance you are attempting to get to! I agree that a pair of ML subs would probably get you where you want to go. I would vote for #4.DKG999
HT System: LSi9, LSiCx2, LSiFX, LSi7, SVS 20-39 PC+, B&K 507.s2 AVR, B&K Ref 125.2, Tripplite LCR-2400, Cambridge 650BD, Signal Cable PC/SC, BJC IC, Samsung 55" LED
Music System: Magnepan 1.6QR, SVS SB12+, ARC pre, Parasound HCA1500 vertically bi-amped, Jolida CDP, Pro-Ject RM5.1SE TT, Pro-Ject TubeBox SE phono pre, SBT, PS Audio DLIII DAC -
You should also look into Rel subs. I haven't owned any but heard them in shops many times and really liked their musical performance. Rel stadium would fill your requirements-izafar

Well I nixed the idea of the XTI amp after finding out its lowest xover point is 90hz, lame...
But I am going with dual originals with megawoofers
with two 500 watt plate amps from Parts Express.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I'd go with a pair of PB12+. However, at the levels you listen at, I would recommend a pair of PB12 Ultra.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I just dont think I listen that loud.
You are making me look like a crazy person. At the Polkfest however, they were jamming alot louder than I do. Haha.
But from what it sounds like, the VMPS Original is right up my alley.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Loud is subjective. For me anything above 90+db is loud.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

That's pretty crappy to only be able to cross it over at 90+Hz... With they tyler's hitting pretty low you'd need a lot lower than that. You sure you'll even need a sub when the taylo's arrive? I know for ht it'll probably be nicer, but for music in your small room I wouldn't think it'd be worth running one. I guess it depends on what type of music you listen to. For my setup, certain cds do lack a little bit when I'm not running a sub. The intro to Korn's new cd is a prime example of music hitting low that my lsi9's just can't produce properly.

Which of the ML subs could be considered for a killer HT experience?

Of what I have heard, I would go SVS, however I understand they are far from being the most musical.

I'm interested in your PCi that's for sale, but don't have enough posts to respond in that section. I sent you an email to let you know. My room size is 22x22x15, so I was wondering what kind of improvement do you think I'd hear upgrading to this sub from my PSW 505?ncmarine

I would highly recommend the VMPS. My tall boy has a 12" and a 15" with a 15" passive. This sub is not boomy at all. I have my 3.1 filtered through the pre at 90 hrz. I am powering the sub with the TFM 55x. Listening to music I prefer this set up. When I am watching movies I adjust the pre to large just for more effect. From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More"

Do you have any specific comments on how the SVS sound was not the most musical? I'm not trying to argue your opinion, but rather what qualities of the SVS didn't sound musical to you?polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
