First off,Welcome to the forum.
Nice stuff you picked up there. You will be fine with what you have but if you want to...kick it up a notch,a seperate amp is not a bad idea.Plenty of options from the likes of Sunfire,Carver,Adcom,Rotel,Outlaw,Parasound, and a slew of others.I would say try it out first and as long as the receiver has pre-outs,you can add the amp later or as your budget lets you.
Congrats on the new gear and again,Welcome to the madness.:)HT SYSTEM-

The 804 has pre-outs, and should make a quite nice pre.. I would look into seperates maybe before you unpack the Onk.. Not too sure what your budget is, but you can get some great deals on this site, as well as, Audiogon.. You should be good to go with what you have as long as you have a little constraint and not try to play the thing a its highest volume.. You might check out a 2 or possibly 3 channel amp.. The receiver should be just fine to run the surrounds and really the center too; however, if you plan on using this system for HT too, the center channel is a very important speaker. IMO for HT the center channel should have the same amount of usable power as your main L and R.. Nice pick up on the gear. You got some really nice sh&t..
Enjoy,

thanks TennesseeOutlaw I really like this onkyo and it played really nice in the store I was amazed to be honest also was thinking of gettin a 2 channel amp after reading the reviews here was leaning towards a adcom gfa-5802 just dont have the cash right now as this system here already cost me a pretty pennyHome Theater sony 52 inch lcd,Cinenova grande 7 channel, polk RTI8,CSI5,FXI5,onkyo 805

i just bought a denon avr-1907 and it has seperate preouts for each channel, 85 wpc 7.1 channel, but the manual says u can hook up 10 speakers to it, but yes you picked out a nice systemJohn Tyler Birch

Setup your system and enjoy it. It's going to sound even better in your home once you get it dialed in. Getting an amp isn't necessary. Just know you'll get another level of performance by feeding those speakers. When/if you start getting "that feeling" explore amps before you give up on the speaks.

Welcome!
That Adcom is a great amp, but it's only 2-Channel. That's fine, but if you're going to home theater, it might be a good idea to give all 5 of your speakers some of that high current juice. -
I thought I would only need it for the RTI12's what amp do you recommend remember I have the onkyo 804 alreadyHome Theater sony 52 inch lcd,Cinenova grande 7 channel, polk RTI8,CSI5,FXI5,onkyo 805

It's your system to do whatever you like. I just find that if you're going to be watching movies mostly, you should power them all equally. If you were just doing 2-Channel, I would say stick with the 2-Channel Amp (Obviously).
As far as brands, I really like B & K, but that's just me.
Outlaw and Rotel would be 2 other brands to check out. I don't think you could go wrong with a 5-Channel Amp from either of those 2 companies. -
Demiurge I'm new at this so please bear with this is my first real HT system I thought I only needed more power for the rti12 and the others would run fine with my onkyo amp its 105wpcHome Theater sony 52 inch lcd,Cinenova grande 7 channel, polk RTI8,CSI5,FXI5,onkyo 805

All of the speakers will run fine with just your Onk. I just thought you were looking for that more power option. If you're going to spring for a 2-Channel, and you are using this system for HT, you might as well go all out with a 5-Channel amp.
There's not a darn thing wrong with what you're doing. -
You'll love the setup you've got. Unpack it and enjoy. Then never return to this forum. If you do, you'll eventually catch the upgraditis virus. Based on your limited postings, you may already be infected. I am sorry to say, there is no cure.

Its too late for me already the system sounded great at the store but after reading here that the rti12 needed mode power now I'm looking for a stronger amp thought I only needed 2 channel amp but know I'm thinking 5 to 7 channelHome Theater sony 52 inch lcd,Cinenova grande 7 channel, polk RTI8,CSI5,FXI5,onkyo 805

With the receiver you have, they don't need to be powered by a seperate amp, whoever said that is wrong. They will sound better with more power, that is right. -
Nice system you got there....I love it. post pics!Audio system lost to water damage...

it depends do u watch more movies or listen to more music, if u listen to more music i would run a seperate amp on your fronts and run the other channels off of the reciever thats how my system is set up and i have my speakers biwired.John Tyler Birch

Bi-wired.. Ok, on the back of your Rti-12's you will notice (2) Sets of terminals. This speaker allows you to amplify the tweeter and the mid-woofer/subwoofer seperataly. This particular subject will draw an entirely different discussion. Search for threads posted in the "speaker" room about bi-wiring, and that should give you a really good idea of what that is all about.. Personally, I have ran my speakers in both regular + - , and bi-wired.. There are some noticable differences in doing this; however, in my case not really enough to solidify buying extra expensive speaker wires.. I would suggest taking the brackets out of terminals, and take a small peice of your speaker wire and connect the bottom set to the top.. No matter what you decide to do, get those crappy gold plated connectors out of there.. Just doing that will greatly increase your SQ. You'll also notice that the woofers seem to more in synch with each other.. At least Ive noticed this on every pair of speakers Ive ever owned..
Now to your amplification questions/concerns. If you have a budget like mine, hardly anything, you might want to check out Outlaw Audio.. It is a mid-fi audio company that is sold only on the internet.. This cuts out the middle man and saves you big bucks. There are quite a few ppl on this forum that use Outlaw products.. They have a 30 day return policy, so if you dont like what you hear just send it back and you only out shipping!! Basically a 30 day 50-75 dollar demo.
http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/index.html
They also carry B-stock items.. These are items that were sold as A-stock, and for whatever reason it was returned.. They go over the amp and make sure it all functions properly, and generally they look just fine as well.. You get the same warranty with them as well..
Some other amplifiers yu might want to check out: B&K, ATI, NAD, Sunfire, Earthquake(Grand Cineova), Adcom..
I would try to go with something that is at least 200 WPC, from 20 hz - 20,000Khz, and not at 1khz with 1 channel driven.
If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me..

Ah poor guy is caught up in upgrading already.
Look, go home unpack and hook up everything, grab your signifigant other if there is one, throw on one of your favorite flicks and enjoy.
If you dont like it, or feel that something is missing, come back tomorrow and we can rape your mind and wallet with stuff to help you improve.
Dont forget, if it isnt broke dont fix it.

Welcome to the fourm. That system will sound great. That receiver will run those 12's just fine. In the future if you get an upgrade bug, you can buy an amp. It wil improve sound quality, but your going to be blown away with what you have for some time before you'll get that "I want better" bug. Just set it up and enjoy it.Michael
