Hello all!
There is a listing for the B&K ST3140 on ebay for a buy it now price of $399? Can anyone tell me if this is a good price. It puts out 140W per channel at 8 Ohms. I would run my two RTi8's along with a CSi5 center. Should I look for a 200W x 3 amp instead? One final question, how long ago did they make this amp?
Thanks,
Eric. . .

Eric,
This model was produced between 2000-2002.
The price seems fair. 140wpc will bring those Rti's to life. B&K is a warm sounding amp and is a great combo for Rti's, as they seemed a tad bright to me. I tried a B&K 150wpc and have a B&K 220wpc- the 220wpc seemed to produce a slightly fuller soundstage, just slightly. You'll be happy either way!
Good luck. -
Thanks Ern Dog. To be completely honest, I like the brightness of the RTi's. I was really concerned that the 140W per channel wouldn't be enough. My current AVR is an Onkyo 804 which puts out 105W per channel. Though they sound good, I feel like they could sound even better.

A 140wpc High Current amp will sound a 100 times better than Onkyo's 105wpc. you have to remember that a lot of avr manufactuers have misleading wpc figures in order to increase sales. I bet you would be lucky to be getting 80wpc in stereo mode and even less with all channels being driven at the same time.
Be prepared for a warmer, more refined flavor if you plan on getting a B&K amp. If you want to keep the bright/detailed sound, then I'd go with a more neutral sounding amp. -
Thanks for the advice! I'm going to meet with a friend tomorrow who has several different type of amps so that I can test the different sound qualities!

That would be perfect. If you can, take your Rti8's with you, so you can hear what it sounds like with your speakers. Might be too much of a hassle.
