I've been running IE 7 for about a month now and it crashes often. Is anyone having the same problems? If so can I just deinstall and reinstall it without worrying about my favorites being lost.

Effing Microsoft want $59 to answer these questions.

I haven't had it crash, but every now and then links do nothing. Ie, a link to open a new window with a picture, a link to open a video in media player, etc etc.

    Hello

If you aren't using Firefox I would recommend you go to that browser, you'll have alot less issues with it. When you install it, it will ask you if you want to move the favorites from IE to that browser. Also, if you decide to use it download the Fasterfox plugin, it will help speed up browsing. This is what I use and I only use IE for the windows updates.....

Heres the link to download it:

    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

    And heres the Fasterfox add-on:

You might want to try disabling your add-ons (tools-internet options-programs-manage add-ons) one by one to see if one of them is causing a problem. Kind of a pita since there's often 40 or more of them but it fixed that problem for a couple of friends of mine.

I don't remember if favorites are saved when you uninstall but I think they are. To be sure, you can export your favorites before you uninstall and then they'll be saved to import if need be when you reinstall.

IE7 sucks. It works on some machines, but in general it slows machines down, has issues with Quick Books. I would recommend staying away from it. IE6 goes anywhere that IE7 can.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Windows update just updated mine to IE7 and every time I try to start IE it crashed. I use Firefox 99.9% of the time, but sometimes i need to use IE to view a page correctly, but apparently can't do that any more. Such a POS.........

I've been using IE7 for several months and have not had any problems at all. I know some guys at work who use Firefox and they say it is faster. I really do like the tabs in IE7.

Well I had to disable Web History in Google Desktop to resolve the instant crashing as soon as I opened IE7. Now that I did that I can use it (still only a backup at best to Firefox)........

Need a little more info on your unit.
    32 or 64 bit ?
    RAM ?
    processor ?

I have an old Sony that is still fairly quick with the 32 bit.
I have a 2009 Acer that is really bottom of the top of the line, 64 bit and have always had issue with it, merely the sum of the parts.
Then, I have a 32 bit Dell Latitude laptop that is fantastic as well.
But, the Acer, learned my lesson and will have to live with its occasional lethargy.

I am on IE9, and Winders 7 with all 3 units.
I keep em all clean with CCleaner and Smart Defrag and of course back em up.
Cept the laptop, no back up on it.

    Anyway, whatcha got ?

    +1

    I recommend anything but ie7
    ie9 is pretty darn nice.
chrome is simple but some pages come out funky
firefox 4 is pretty awesome. some great plugins

I use both, really. (both latest versions of IE and GC).
For GC, you have to keep it up to date manually, but is a great browser.
I misunderstood as having issues with machine crashing.
It is just the browser then.
IE9 is almost a copy cat of GC.
I had issues with most of IE versions.
I believe 6 was good, and 8 showed promise, but crashed or better yet hung often.
9 I haven't had any issue other than figuring it out.
