Hello All--Im new to the site. Believe it or not I am still using Polk S10's but one of the woofers is blown, I believe its a 7.5 MW8000. I contacted Polk but they currently do not have any replacement woofers and dont know if they will get any in the future. Does anyone have a source for these? Or any other recommendation?

call polk back. order all new tweeters and woofers..300.00 and enjoy them for another 20 years:). It is a 6 1/2 woofer. they will have a substitute for you. Tell them you are a club polk member and get a discount.
 From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More" :D

Thanks for the responses! I did as much research as I could, found the old literature on the S and Ls Loudspeaker line and re-contacted Polk as well. According to parts and service, there is no replacement as of yet for the MW8000, they are still trying to have the baskets manufactured but not sure if this will happen. Helen at parts has a list of people looking for this 7.5" driver but no guarantee they will be made. The S8 uses the same driver but no other speakers I could find. There are other 7.5" drivers but customer service didnt recommend using any of them. These speakers are about 13 years old so I definitely got my moneys worth (obviously). I have checked ebay numerous times and will continue to check, also tried numerous web places that sold older polk replacement parts (they all seemed pretty bogus). I installed RC85i's as rears over the weekend and its time to switch to some new fronts as well. Customer service said my center channel CS200 will match RC85i's as fronts as well but I wont get the sound out of them from music. I listen to music far more than movies but space is an issue so I may go with RC85i's in the front as well. Sorry for the long post and thanks again for the info, this site is great!

Its your lucky day. I know where one is.

These people have a new one listed for sale. After weeks of searching I bought a new MW6509 from them last month. It arrived brand new unopened in the factory box with a date of 1988.

Heres the link, thank me later.

rjcardinal--thanks for the link and info!! I did find someone on ebay selling unused replacement polk speakers. I emailed him to see if he had MW8000, he did, and he listed it for $35. Hopefully this will work out! I added your link to my favorites for future reference!

FYI-If anyone is looking for MW8000, the replacement was MW8002. This driver was used in the RT7 & RT10 speakers also.

The LS70 uses a 7.5" driver also: MW8100. Per Polk Customer Servc. the MW8100 would fit inside S8 & S10 but probably wouldnt sound right (wouldnt be matched etc.)

Thanks again to all, I am enjoying the site!!

FYI I received the replacement driver and installed it. The "vintage" S10's are back in business!

The only problem I had is a little bit of the rubber surround pulled off the speaker basket. Does anyone recommend a certain type of adhesive or glue to repair it? I was going to use rubber cement or Goop contact adhesive & sealant.

Las-Thanks for the info. I spent some time seeing what others had to say and here are some of the recommendations I have also read about. Per Parts Express they recommend a gel type super glue. Others have recommended Rubber Cement, RTV (silicone) or Silicone Glue/Adhesive, Weldbond, methyl methacrylate, Dycan Hobby Glue, PVA (Elmer's??), and Aleen's Tacky Glue.

Im going to go with Rubber Cement or a Silicone Glue. I read in many posts the necessity for the glue to remain flexible!!

I have an inventory of NOS Polk Audio drivers and tweeters, etc. Drop me a message if you're interested in something listed as MOST of these are not in production anymore.

    I have:

    2) MW7000
    2) MW8000
    4) MW8100
    3) MW6502
    1) SL5000
    2) SL4000 (pairs)
    1) SL2500
    1) MW5502
    1) MW4802

If it's not on this list, I don't have it. We were a Polk Audio dealer for many years and used to have a substantial inventory. This is all we have left.

    Cheers!

This post is 3 years old... The other S10 speaker's MW8000 bit the dust, picked up a pair off ebay for $45 shipped. Still cant believe I am still using these dinosaurs but they still sound Great.

KKM-what are you looking to get for the MW8000's you have?
