New member w/RTi12's
Just purchased (2) RTi12's through Circuit City using my employee discount. Got them for $722 shipped for both so I think I did ok. I will be running them on an Onkyo TX-SR540(110wpc) until I purchase the Denon AVR987 later on in the month. Just curious when i get the 987 what amps do you reccommend. My ending setup will be Denon 987, (fronts)RTi12's, (center)CSi5, (Surr & Rears) FXi5's and (sub) SVS dont know yet.?

Welcome Speed3, that's a nice set up you're putting together.. congrats!
you have tons of options for power amps.. once it's time for you to reach that point.. there are lots of them to choose from.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

How much are you willing to spend? Any problem with buying used?
-
Welcome Speed,We also have the 12's as mains in our HT rig...can C.C. employees still buy RTi series speakers? even though they don't carry them anymore?
I would also recommend buying as much power as you can afford...this is a much easier task if you buy used...I would get nothing less than 200 wpc.
The 12's really don't start to sing until you give them lots of clean power. -
Thanks guys for welcomes. I was still allowed to purchase them on the polk audio accomadations website so I guess i got lucky. I was looking at getting outlaw, is a 7 channel better than mono's all around?View my Blog!

I would choose the 7 channel over the monos simply for size...I can't comment on what,if any difference there would be in the tonal quality of the two types.
You might try getting the 7 channel, and later getting a couple of monos to bi-amp the 12's with.
Outlaw amps are highly regarded by many, don't think you could go wrong with either choice. -
Thanks, I am still totally unfimilar about bi-wire and bi-amping so I still have to keep reading about it, but i will probably go with a 7-channel amp.View my Blog!

Welcome to the world of Polk, Speed3. The setup you are talking about is basically the same system as the one I have. If you have any specific questions concerning my system, just ask. I am a wealth of disinformation....uh... information.

the 7 channel is awesome if your AVR doesnt have allot of power to push everything. Im using a sony 7100es, 170 watts x 7 although its actually like 140 -147. Enough to drive what I have, the monoblocks are good amps, they do the job, and Im even considering adding one more on the center. Either way you cant go wrong. Enjoy the setup, its going to sound great once you get everything in place.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Just got a Denon AVR 887 aka 2307ci. Its so hard to choose a reciever when you have a 1080p set and 1080p components. I think I made the right choice, the reciever passes 1080p with no problem and does uncompressed PCM 5.1 and 7.1 via HDMI. Still waiting on my RTi12's. This new reciever has bi-amping capabilities, is this something i should consider doing or just wait till i get some outlaws.View my Blog!
