What should be an acceptable operating temperature for an (my) amp in a closed but ventilated (by convection) space?
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

In my experience if it is uncomfortable to the touch it is probably too warm. If you can comfortably hold your hand on it you should be safe.HT

For **** and Giggles I put an out side temperature probe on directly on top of the amp above the heat sinks of my 5 channel amp while listening to a concert utilizing all 5 channels and the amp has been on all day because my daughter watched Monsters Inc. twice and it is currently reading 98.6 F. with an ambient temp of 74.0 f in the room.
I don't think that seems to bad but I am asking. Any hotter and I might run up and get a bottle of Tylenol.:DI like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -
^Sounds like a cool running amp to me. I would never worry about an amp that has been on all day and running a temp of 98 degrees.
I'd be damn happy with that, especially in a semi-closed area.

Still 98.6 F. But my wife has not yelled at me to turn it down so I guess I don't have it loud enough.:rolleyes:I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D
